Love seeing your seedlings progress today. When I had herb garden, I had my Oregano and my Thyme growing around medium-large rocks in my front yard. They loved it and it was very attractive. You might consider putting some on your rock retaining wall. The first one built that looked like built with the big boulders/rocks. Put some dirt down in the crevices/cracks between the rocks to give the plants a place to grow into.

Becky, if you want to go ahead and up-pot seedlings without waiting for 4-inch pots to arrive, you can use Solo cups. I use the smaller clear kind so I can keep an eye on root development. I can fit 17 or 18 cups in a medium-sized aluminum pan from Dollar Tree even if it is a bit precarious. It's not perfect but the plants are in them for such a short time and it's better than allowing them to become roo tbound. Congratulations on such beautiful seedlings - well done! ~ Lisa

With Celery - instead of planting from seed - the faster way to germinate celery is to go to Winco and buy a bunmch of packages of the cheapest celery and cut off the bottom on the "head". You can then put them in a shallow container with water and watch how fast it grows. You can then transplant them into small pots or the raised bed. I have been growing celery and green onion on my kitchen counter through out the winter. It truly works amazing and you have that beautiful grow room to start your celery in.

The plants look great. What you should do or maybe get Josh to do is use a label making program and show you how you can easily get labels printed. There are various kinds and permanent or removal labels from a stationery supply store. Or even enough better there are little label printers not too expensive, that you can make labels on your phone, tablet etc and easily print out a single or multiple labels easily. I really think you could benefit from doing this. I love your chickens.

Hey Becky, I don’t know if it has been suggested yet. But I learned this year that many perennials like Lavender, sage, and rosemary need to be cold stratified for germination. I do this by lightly wetting a paper towels put the seeds on it then placing them in a plastic bag or container in the crisper drawer for at least 2 weeks. I went from 1 rosemary germinating to 10 germinating this year.

Hi Becky! Have you ever seen Garden Answer on KZbin? She has water ran to her raised beds. There is tubing that is ran from underneath running up to the top of the beds. I think while you don't have any soil in your beds that it might be a good time to at least have tubing at each bed before you have the soil put in. Excellent way to be able to have your plants watered. That is my project for this year, but I already have beds. Oh well, guess I'll be doing a lot of digging. If I may suggest something: I highly reccommend to get informations on companion planting - so your hard effort on starting seeds will be rewarded by a splendid harvest. It is really usefull to know which plants go well together, which ones should be avoided by all means. E.g.: Carrots should be planted near onions because onions will repel the carrot fly. Onions will also chase away the aphids, so plant them near aphid-prone veggies. There are a couple of other good friends of onions like beets, cabbage, lettuce, parsnips (which also suffer from carrot fly), tomatoes, and spices like marjoram, savory, and rosemary. Never plant asparagus, beans, and peas near onions. There are lots of other companionships. It is really interesting. Good luck for the gardening season!

Hi Becky. Helpful tip for your pump sprayer: Gently pull out on the red pressure relief valve prior to unscrewing the pump cylinder. The valve reduces any internal air pressure from your sprayer, allowing you to more easily unscrew the cap for refilling, and will protect the pump cylinder from undue wear and tear.

What were the 4 cuttings from the other house? I can't remember. I know you took them as you were leaving. I think figs. I hope!❤❤❤❤

Lavender is very finicky to start from seed. When my Dad did some for me I know he had seeds in damp paper towels and they were in the refrigerator for a certain number of days and then in warm a certain number of days and didn't even go into any soil until they were sprouting. Even then, the percentage to actually make it was lower than most other things. Didn't seem to be much different between varieties. Best success has been from pinning down new spring growth branches on established lavender into the soil and waiting for it to establish roots. The good thing is, once lavender gets established, if it's in a spot that it likes, all you need to do is harvest/trim it back and it will be happy.
