Bill Gruggett was a master luthier from Bakersfield California. We lost him in 2012 at 75 years old. He did build Mosrite guitar and so much more. Very well known for his use of the best and most beautiful wood and would build everything at of it. Pick guards, pick up rings, knobs, tuner tips and so on. Talk the time and Google his name. He built and did repairs for very famous musicians. I love that you had guitars on your show about my old friend.

He was a very kind man. He refretted a Gibson mandolin I had and repaired a broken neck on an old acoustic guitar. I remember his humility and skill a real guitar hero imho. I read somewhere that they had a celebration in Bakersfield to honour him. Sadly missed

Hey Trogly, I'm on vacation so just catching up on some old episodes! Loved the shout-out for the ES225T! Don't you think it's time to update the old orange rockabilly unit video with the added Bigsby? That was a REALLY long time ago! I'm suggesting a 2014 reissue ES225TD in Tabacco Burst. Not the money of the 1955-59 originals, but they look vintage and play great. Love the show! Keep up the great work. Darren

Back in the early 2000s, my departed big brother ordered a 12 string Les Paul from a "boutique" manufacturer. I gasped when I saw it, but it was a quality instrument that sounded great. I wish I could remember the brand name on it (and what happened to it). Our big question then was "why the heck doesn't / didn't make a market 12-string electric? Very cool once again.

11:55 - Santa's Explorer 😆One Gibson I really regret selling was a 2003 Explorer Pro w/ yellowy-natural flamed maple top and that same red stain on the back. $1400 brand new in '04 (oof). The best thing about that guitar was the way it arrived; it was absolutely flawless. An ES-137 Classic in Blueburst is another regret, and another brand new gem with zero issues. Paid $1200 in 2008-09. Ugh.
@bveracka3 ай бұрын
@@cataclysmicconverter Yes, I remember thinking I was spending too much. Based on inflation, $1400 in 2003 = $2400 in 2024, and there's _NO WAY_ you could get a new Gibson with those specs right now for $2400. If re-released, it'd likely retail for about $4500 today. I absolutely agree with what you said about ebony fretboards and Gibson. Always loved the ebony / block inlay combo. My all-time favorite electric was a natural '77 LP Custom with pitch-black ebony. Of all 18 Gibsons I've owned, that Explorer felt and played the best straight out of the box. Gibson seemed to be on a roll with QC in the early 00s.
