14:28, Austin, steaming is for raising a dent. What your fingerboard has is a chunk missing, do not steam it, you'll loosen the fingerboard glue. Have a Luthier mix up some glue and fine Ebony sawdust, he will clean the area and fill it with ebony epoxy/glue. Then it can be cleaned up to the point it will hardly be noticeable. EDIT, what a fantastic Buckethead example, love the figured fingerboard. 👍
@ChrisShortyAllen6 ай бұрын
Why is it OK to steam a dent? He clearly stated that he has no intention of doing such a thing.
@NavelOrangeGazer6 ай бұрын
@@ChrisShortyAllen A dent the wood is pressed in and compacted so steaming will raise the grain. A chunk missing is just missing there's nothing for the steam to raise.
@hkguitar19846 ай бұрын
@@ChrisShortyAllen In some instances steaming a dent in wood will swell the wood out to its original shape, literally making the dent disappear. It would of course require finish touchup, but it can and has been done. With a fingerboard, often times the glue used will release when exposed to heat and moisture, so the only time you want to use a lot of steam on a fingerboard would be to remove it.

So some inside baseball for ya Trog, I was there painting white guitars from '12-'16. It was maybe 13 or 14 I got some BIG SGs sent upstairs with white fingerboard apparently for a sample run of Bucketheads. The pegheads nearly drug on the floor if the booth, they are that much bigger. Anyway as sometimes happens he and Henry couldn't agree on some things apparently and I never saw them again. Not sure if they are in the vault or if they got destroyed, but Jim may know. Great video sir!

Just an extra tip on the arcade buttons: Sanwa sells two different securing styles for their buttons, screw in and snap in. If you do want to use one for your guitar make sure to get the screw style because the snap in style are made to be put into very thin plastic. You would have to shave the wood down inside of your control cavity to fit them.

Small Light Body, modded for one volume, Seymour JB bridge pickup, and now baritone scale for drop tunings. im very excited because ive had the guitar for years in its original form since i was younger until about three years ago i did the pickup and pickguard/control cover changes, and i sat with the idea of making it baritone for a while since ive been playing 7 and 8 strings guitars now for about 5-6years now so i want that extra bit on that guitar.

The whole point of baritones is actually to be able to tune low with lighter strings since it increases the tension, so a 10 46 set in standard on a 27in scale makes the strings very tight, these guitars are made to be tuned low.
@flyingv71615 ай бұрын
Does Trogly say the strings' gauge? It's 10s? I'd try 9s for Standard E, and 10s for Standard D. Now I have 11s on standard D, on a LP Standard; now it's easy to overbend them since I was using the same strings on standard E

I bought one of the Chibson versions for around a hundred bucks with a broken neck... knowing or hoping it would be an easy fix. It was. I went and measured it. The body and scale length was indeed the same as my other LP, however the headstock was bigger by roughly half an inch. So it looks bigger in the rack than the standard LP, but it is all an illusion, as it is just the headstock.

Its Very nice, but i don't think it's one of the first 60. Just by looking at the guitar you can tell if it's a 'first 60' edition or one from the remaining 440. Gibson Produced a limited first run of 60 of these guitars and sent one to various Gibson dealers. The first run of the 60 guitars has three differences from the latter Buckethead Les Paul's produced. First it has a different binding. First editions feature the Gibson custom binding pattern. This means it has a (thick) White- (thin) black- (thin) white- (thin) black- (thin) white. The latter production ones have a different 4 ply binding, consisting of a (thick) white- (thick) black- (thin) white- (thin) black. The second difference are the tuners. The first production Buckethead Les Paul's have Grover locking tuners, as stated on the website. The newer ones come with a Shaller-type unmarked locking tuner set. Finally, the first editions have an ebony fretboard while the latters have richlite.

The mention of how bigger people might want these guitars is accurate in my case. I am picky about the size of a guitar due to being 6'7", I often joke that most guitars full like toys in my hands. It is why i mostly stir away from LP's And SG's because they feel small, the idea of a Buckethead LP being bigger considering he himself is around my height. These guitars are a bit more ideal for what I am looking at guitars for possibly in the future.

I mean, having a bigger body doesn't mean that the two pickups look further apart than how they would be in a regular shaped 24 fret guitar, right? Moving the bridge and tailpiece down the body would further increase its scale length, and that's not the case. The reason they don't look so close together is due to the fact that the longer the scale length is, the bigger the gap between the pickups will be, in inches, although PROPORTIONALLY it would stay the same from guitar to guitar (if the number of frets stay the same, of course). The guitar is just bigger and longer, as opposed to the pickups that stay the same in size, so at first glance it doesn't look as jarring. But if you think about it and look for it, they indeed are closer together than they should be, if the guitar were to have only 22 frets. Right?

This is not a baritone guitar (despite how many people call it that because it confuses them). It simply has a long, custom scale length and body size for Buckethead. A baritone guitar needs to produce baritone pitch and timbre. In order to achieve that baritone sound special string gauges (14-68), tuning, longer scale length and body construction all work together. A baritone neck has 22 frets. Buckethead's guitar is a 24 fret, double octave guitar and his strings are 9's which I believe are tuned to E these days and the nut on this guitar is not cut for baritone strings. This guitar was only ever intended to be played like a conventional guitar. And please do not suggest that you should ever steam your fretboard. Unless you want to remove it from the neck.
@juanvaldez54225 ай бұрын
A baritone doesn’t have to be 22 frets nor is there some law stating you have to use 14-68 .. many 7 strings don’t even use a 68 . Baritone is essentially a tuning . B standard on a long scale . This one’s 27 inch . You can absolutely set this one up as a baritone .

26.5” and 27” are actually the most common baritone lengths.
