Had my first day out with gamechangers flies. I had the exact opposite experience. Fishing from the bank. My first cast ever with a gamechanger landed a bass. Granted most were small, but I continued to have excellent luck with a baby bluegill pattern gamechanger all afternoon. I'm casting them on an 8wt with floating line. Definitely think I'm switching to an intermediate sink tip line going forward.

Loved hearing the commentary from your son. He did great on the camera! Maybe next we will see him with a fly rod! Rooting for this channel, keep casting!

Yeah he was pretty awesome. I had to keep it in the video. Thanks for watching.

Thank you so much for posting this. I am new to Fly Fishing and I only have urban ponds nearby. No real great fishing spots. This made me feel like its ok to keep at it even if the results don't come right away.

I know the feeling man. A few weeks ago I spent 7 hours out on the river to get just one smallie and in the process snagged my fly on every dang laydown I fished, hooked myself twice and flipped my kayak. The little 10" smallmouth I finally landed was probably one of the most rewarding fish I've ever caught though. Keep fishin'. Love these videos!

I have a real hard time leaving the water without a fish. I think that was the hardest part. But when the skunk streak is broken, it's a great feeling.

Great video!! 9 days, magic bass on the 9th day. I guess 9 really is a magic number after all.

It was in this case. I would have been good with 1 or 2.

Those flies look sharp! When fishing those big streamers, make sure to get the slack out of your line right away to see if the fish picks it up when it hits the water, and then strip set rather than raising the rod tip. If you keep the line tight you might find a few more fish grabbing and dropping it quickly, and you’re also ready for that hook set! Just make sure you give one or two big tugs on the line (with your rod close to the water and pointed at the fly) to set that big hook before you raise the rod tip! Especially with a 5 or 6wt, that is just a lot of hook to bury with the strength of the rod. Pointing the rod at the fly will give you a direct connection to pull and set the hook with the line. Hope this helps! Tight lines!

Thanks for help. In my head I know that but trout set is a mechanical default for sure.

Awesome to see you fishing with a good buddy again! I just started concentrating on my streamer game this year. I feel your pain, it is a different game for sure.

So different but still water is a different game all together. Thanks for watching.

Damn. I just picked up a few GC's from The Fish Hawk to target some shoals, and now I'm feeling even less confident about this weekend lol.

Haha I was gunna suggest trying the absolute butt crack of dawn cause when it’s hot I always try to have the boat in the water before first light when I’m bass fishin but last day you got out early and WON!!! Great job man!! I went to blairsville for a week for work and caught my first fly rod bass on a craw streamer it was pretty fun! But I’m sure you already know but coming from someone who had to learn the hard way, make sure you take the prop off your trolling motor at least once every week or two and unwind all the line and goo off the shaft or it will eventually burn your motor up cause it has to work too hard. Loved the video tho man! Oh and I caught a ton of fish on mop flies last time I went the hooch WMA and I got that from watching your videos so I jus wanted to say thanks for that too! Tight lines man!

That's awesome Corey. Gotta match the mop hatch. It doesn't make sense but it really works. Thanks for watching.

I have actually haven’t fished in two weeks. I brought my rods to the lake I usually fish, but it has just been too hot. I might try this weekend and hope the rain has cooled it down enough. I have successfully fished a game changer for bass. Pretty sure I used a white one. Looking forward to the cooler weather this fall for sure. Keep making videos!
@GoodBuddyFlyFishing3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Shannon! I can't wait until the water is cooler and the bass get a little more active.

the water is really dirty, which definitely makes catching fish with a sight lure more difficult. you were on the right track throwing a bright bait. black also works well in dirty water.
@nickatkins96923 жыл бұрын
Bass fishin is tougher than most people think. You really gotta hone in on what they’re doing and it’s TOUGH in the summer months since they’re deep in lethargic. Sink tip line is a necessity in the summer.
@GoodBuddyFlyFishing3 жыл бұрын
It is definitely hard for me when the the top water bite is off. I have no idea where any of the deep structure is in my pond either.

Your determination is admirable, lol. I have a Buddy who tied on a game changer in the spring and didn't take it off until late June. Definitely does seem to work better in the spring though. But he caught pike, walleye, crappie, bluegill, largemouth, and rainbow trout on it.

I'm new at this. What fly line or wait are you using for the game changer
@terp533 жыл бұрын
An intermediate sink tip fly line works best on flies like the Game Changer and experiment with different stripping speeds.

Thanks for the help. I have been wanting to add that to the arsenal.

I have found with bass you really got to strip the fly fast. I’ve only caught them on poppers but it’s my experience that they only hit it if it’s really moving.
@GoodBuddyFlyFishing3 жыл бұрын
I tried everything I promise. But it won’t be long until the bass start moving and feeding up for winter. A faster strip will work better then. At least I think that will be the case.
