I can't believe what Amsoil upper cylinder Lubricant did to my engine!

This Clogged fuel injector and change in compression is unbelievable. Lucas upper cylinder lubricant, seafoam motor treatment have less lubricity than Amsoil gasoline additive at 18 percent less for Lucas then 20 percent less for Seafoam according to independent studies. It's a phenomenal product. Their PI enhancer also works just as well. I had enough Data from the exact same drive to work and home each day. I was getting 23.5 to 24MPG. After a tank full of Pi I'm getting 25.5 to 26.5mpg with zero change to driving style or trip differences.

I'm getting about 42mpg In my Scion iq after a bottle, was averaging 39 beforehand, Is using the same testing method as you. My drive was the exact same, win, with the same speeds and The temperature was at most about 5°F lower while doing my post-PI testing. I am definitely going to go for another bottle of that before my next road trip

It seemed to only raise mileage from 17 MPG to 17.7 (or 17.75?) MPG in my 2005 Explorer, and that's comparing my ScanGauge II Computer to my On-Board Computer. The ScanGauge read 17, and it was calibrated properly. The on-board computer read 17.7, but it doesn't go to a finer decimal point, so what it was after that is anyone's guess. Going from 17 to 17.7 MPG is adding about 15 more miles to the tank, assuming I fill the tank up late, and add 20 gallons out of 22.5. That's not really paying for itself by fuel efficiency benefits in this concentration, it only saves just under 1 gallon for me. I do not use it for the Explorer, but I do use it for other applications. Then again, in my 2005 Explorer, that's a concentration of 6 Oz of Amsoil UCL in 22.5 gallons of gasoline. My concentration of additive is probably not as high as yours.

@@thinkforyourself5672 As it turns out, I'd have to use just under 10.5 ounces for 22.5 gallons to get the same concentration. Eh, I'll keep putting it in Mom's Car, at least; its 17 gallon tank allows for a higher concentration, and I fill that car around the 13 - 14 gallon mark (the "low fuel" light pops up when around 13.5 gallons have been used.) Amsoil UCL does quiet the engine pretty well when it's in a high enough concentration. I also mean to use it in my 1990 Grand Marquis, along with using 100% Gas in it - it's more costly, but I'd like more power out of the old underpowered car on the rare day that I drive it.

I've used the Amsoil upper cylinder lube, Motorkote, Lucas, Primrose, Marvel, and Hot Shot's. They all work well. The best running one was the Primrose and Hot Shot's in a Ford V6. In a BMW 4 cylinder, the Amsoil and Motorkote seemed to run the best. I'm impressed with the video showing an injector flowing better.

The upper cylinder lube leaves a oil film cushion on the valve seats thus increasing compression reduces wear !! It’s cool stuff

Do you know that the seat length is 150 -250 microns long and is concave about 2.5 microns for dampening?? No chance of any film build up. 3rd generation mechanic and engine builder. If you don't believe it disassemble and measure with a perthometer!!

Upper cylinder lube is not a injector cleaner it's to lube the system while being stored to help from rust and stuff while in storage. to unclog fuel injectors you should use fuel injector cleaner not upper cylinder lube

Have tried this product. First, every other fill up. Then (1year later) every 5th fill up. It’s actually pretty impressive. Immediately noticed the extra slight kick the engine had. Fuel economy improvement is negligible, but it may be because things were cleared, then maintained. Didn’t actually track fuel economy before using this product. Car is Toyota Corolla, 1.8 L 2ZRFE. Naturally aspirated, port injection. An engine with GDI or turbo may benefit even more. I’ll likely continue using this product as a form of preventative maintenance (like every 5th fill up or so).

Technically after using the additive you should run on normal petrol to burn off any additive in the cylinder, any lubricant based product will have an impact on the compression at the point of use

This is why I like to alternate with different products. I use the lubricants most of the time, then a cleaner type once in a while (usually every 4 to 5K miles for the cleaner).

I love Amsoil products, but these extra fuel additives make me nervous. They might work, particularly with increasing compression in a worn engine, but I think so would a few Oz of regular motor oil added to the fuel. I'm especially worried with someone actually using this as directed and adding every fill-up. My concern would be long term carbon deposit build up in cylinders, pistons, fuel injectors, and spark plugs.

I know upper cylinder lube is controversial, and let’s clear it up that I’m no scientist but I’ve owned plenty of cars and trucks gas and diesel, older diesel fuel contained paraffin which was lubricant for dirty Diesel engines but also kept them running forever. That said, it stands to reason more lubrication can’t be all bad, there maybe a tipping point where there is too much or a trade off that some deposits will be left in the system, but gas is dry and I’ve used plenty of it to clean parts fuel pumps, lines, injectors all should benefit from lubrication even if it’s slight or periodic. I feel the rpm’s come smoother with lubricant. Just my thought. Not science.

Motorkote is 27% chlorine. It turns to hydrochloric acid when exposed to heat and moisture in a running engine. Just stick with the Amsoil oil by itself.

I'm no chemist but it's just basically an alcohol. I wouldn't worry about that. I have a '07 Ranger and I've been using Upper Cylinder Lubricant . every other tank or so, since it was new and I've had no problems with anything & engine is clean as an operating room.

I had a dealership do a fuel injector cleaning on my nissan pickup. It caused my injectors to stay open longer than they should and contaminated my oil with gasoline. I ended up having to get another engine. When I checked the oil you could smell the gasoline. When I drained the oil it looked watered down and smelled like straight gasoline. Almost like how dead gas smells. Just be careful doing these on older vehicles. When my oil light came on it was to late the damage was already done.
