That multi-colored sunfish is what's referred to as a "Pumpkinseed or Pond Perche." They're pretty common in the south. They don't grow as large as other sunfish but are pretty plentiful and hearty fish.
@weirdbeardfishin4 жыл бұрын
The one sunfish was actually a pumpkinseed but possibly a hybrid, the thing you thought was a chub was actually a Red Shiner! Actually makes some good bait because of the red fins and flatties love those things!

White river is an amazing fishery, in south Arkansas , where I’m from , we have a lot of cypress sloughs, A couple of creeks that are full of fish also , the ouchita river has great fishing too. It’s ten min from my house. You and boo are welcome to stay a couple of nights and tour the smackover creek bottoms !🎣
@plantsbirdsandnature87834 жыл бұрын
The “weird” sunfish were longear and the shiner was probably a Nocomis sp. or a part of the “river chub” complex. Nice video!!

Long ear sunfish and the snake was more than likely a common water snake. Completely harmless. If you like using the fluke then check out the zoom mini fluke or the linker city fluke. 3” and match most baitfish perfectly.

Yeah the sunfish shown on that small pic was a pumpkinseed sunfish....great video and nice smallmouth. Cheers.

You can't be critical of a spot like that fishing it for a hour , at the creek I fish is super shallow then by exploring more and more I found some deep holes with nice fish .I used rapalas all size of fish bite it ,even smaller ones. Also it's only a creek you won't be pulling all 5lb bass out of there , even if you knew it good they would be rare,you need to find a bigger river or lake.I liked those panfish ,I've never caught a long ear ,pretty fish .I would consider that a nice place to fish for a place near by ,peaceful , clean , nice spot to spend a couple hours no carp too.

Love using Flukes, but color matters. In lakes where they are pinning Shad to the banks, the color you had was perfect, but in a creek it's hard to beat a Super Fluke Junior in Watermelon or green pumpkin. In the smaller creeks, the junior size is much better than the full size flukes... I the Super fluke juniors are much better for me than regular flukes as well. They're great in clear water when the fish are spooky, so subtle.

Believe me there's bigger smallies in there ,I have a creek a ways from me ,i've caught a couple 18'' the depth changes drastically because of a damn above the damn the biggest was 4" but in the spring in a shallow area there was a smallie a good 20' AND THICK on it's bed with about 4 smaller males around it, it was easy to see ,I hope no one bothered it but a week later they were gone.

1. Boo hairs n stuff channel. 2 when your home breed maggots. Its not hard, leave something out till you get fly eggs, then pop in a 2lt bottle with bottom cut out with tights or sieve to give air once they get usable pop in ground baiit sawdust and make sure they wont sweat
