I CAN'T DO THIS SCARY JOB ALONE - Off Grid in Central Portugal

I've got a fun video for you because some of my closest friends here in Portugal make an appearance!
Keri comes to the rescue to help me with a very intimidating job I've been worrying about for three years, and Barbara and Emma from Mount of Oaks also make an appearance to help me with the couch mission.

Dish soap works as a great lubricant for joining those pipes. Makes it much easier. You are making great improvements to your land by redoing the irrigation lines, garden beds, leisure spots, and more. Congrats on the new to you comfortable couches. I've never owned a new couch....just pre-loved ones.

It is! Plus we have this other magical green stuff that we used... it's specifically for putting pipes together. My pre-loved couch will is very welcome!

You might try a king size fitted sheet to cover your sofa … easy to wash… the elastic helps keep it in place.

The water tank was hard, messy work, but you guys made short shrift of it. Good idea to reinforce the tank wall instead of knocking it. It's going to be a very solid job. Your couch is lovely. Enjoy every relaxing moment on it. Thanks for sharing your hard work. :)

Well done Kirsty! A lot of hard work was definitely put into getting things ready to lay the new pipe. I had a real chuckle watching you ladies roll that huge bundle of pipe back up to your property! The music that accompanied the journey added a real touch of comedy to it. Showing my age, but it really reminded me of an old Charlie Chaplin movie where all of the old films were sped up. You certainly do have a knack for editing and a great ear for what sort of music to place in certain clips. Your new couch looks great. Perfect for your little home, and by the looks of it, an added bonus that it is also a sofa bed. Great for when you have company…..unless of course Mikey & Charlie claim it🐈‍⬛🐈😉 You have been working so hard, don’t forget to take breaks and rest when you can. Have a great weekend! 😊

Those lily’s are quite hardy. If you can dig deeper and reach the bulbs you can separate the big clump and spread them out around your land. Maybe something your mom can help with when she’s visiting. You can then get surprise lily’s popping out around the place each spring instead of in a big nuisance clump. ❤

I actually have them around by accident because I used them as mulch a few summers ago. They're quite invasive so I'm going to try to keep them in the clump. But I think they've thrived because of the leaky tank... so let's see how they go!

Hi Kirsty! Looks like you could have used a jack hammer. I know there are limitations to your situation (not living in a city where one can be rented easily, for example) and figure that you would have liked to use one! Put some grease on the back of the bit before you insert into the hammer drill. Steel on steel should be greased. Make the tool last longer. ❤❤❤

My tanks are all full... I don't have anymore reservoirs and the water is ever-flowing. Sinking the water directly into the ground, especially in my garden, isn't a waste.

One small suggestion… could you trim the branches of the lemon tree that are hanging over the pool back so that you don’t have the mess of the lemons in your pool and on top of the sun shade??

It’s a good idea but I’ve already chopped off quite a few branches from that side and I’m worried about hurting the tree. I’ll ask an expert friend next time he stops by and see what he says. 🙂
