I’m not sure if this works the same for vampire squid, but with the fast creatures my technique is to wait until it stops moving, swim slowly towards it (it will swim slower this way), and once you’re in the bubbles or just in front of them do one speed boost and dive for it. It works fairly well for spider crabs and lobsters, plus it’s a lot faster than chasing them at full speed (ironic, no?).

Exactly that- you want to 'sneak' up to them the same way you do beetles on a tree- which in this case is getting close to them by using the joycon and NOT pressing a button to stroke or dive until you're in the perfect spot

To get some of the sea creatures, you first have to catch a certain number of creatures. You will only find the vampire squid after you've caught 80 other creatures.

Here’s a tip, if you’re chasing a fast sea creature, DONT chase after it, that’ll take a while. Instead, creep up to it from above and right when you’re on the bubbles, dive down and you’re guaranteed a catch.

The bubbles are indicative of what size the creatures are ahead of time before you see the shadows. The lower the bubble flow... the smaller the creature is, the faster they are, the larger the creature. Also, if the bubble flow is very straight going up, the creature is one that doesn’t move, if the flow is a little scattered, you have to catch them.

Don't give up Etce, I was able to get a Vampire Squid. (They glow at night if you place them in your house, but the lights need to be off so you can see the glow coming from it) I think they only come out at a specific time but I can't remember when.

I was right, they only come out from 4pm-9am, and each one is worth 10,000 Bells so, it's a good idea to sell any extra Vampire Squids unless you want one for yourself Etce.

vampire squids have fast moving shadows and have (lots) of bubbles also, i think sea star is the "correct name" because they're not fish. My teacher told me that scientists call them "jellies" because they're not fish either. NEAT
