I'm so glad kensuke ushio make the music for this anime because the moment in this episode wouldn't hit as hard without him. Dont get me wrong i think the story is already sad as it is but the music makes it heartwrenching and not to mention the stellar direction just makes the story hit harder

I r talking about the protag? Usami was the usual male trope of crying only when the loved one dies. Even then he didn't, it was her message which tipped him. But the protag is cool

I'm so happy this manga is getting such a wonderful adaptation. This hit way harder for me in the anime for sure... the music and everything was perfect, but it hits even harder than that once you realize something about it... I wonder if you can figure it out. Even though I read ahead, and I'm all caught up, I honestly didn't even realize it until someone mentioned it... You definitely gotta pay close attention to EVERY little thing they show and tell in this anime. I hope they're able to adapt the entire series! It just gets better and better in my opinion. The subtle clues and reveals... The characters and their stories. Such a shame how underrated it still is... The writing is really good.

Those with an eye for detail may have noticed that when the bald Liviumen member tells the protestors that their leader Mizuhashi had died, the exact scene before that has their leader bedridden shows Mizuhashi’s mouth still clearly moving/breathing. There is some cut dialogue from the manga, specifically when the Liviumen are laying siege to the Immortal Order, where an Immortal Order member (one of the guys with a mustache) try to tell the invading Liviumen that Mizuhashi’s leg had been necrotic when she was originally admitted to the Immortal Order, and that if her leg hadn’t been amputated, she would have been at serious risk of dying. And if it wasn’t obvious by the end of the episode, yes the insignia on the button Dr. Usami was holding before he killed himself, is indeed the same design as the one on Kiruko’s Kiru-Beam/laser-gun. Also those who have watched this series’ ED enough times may have noticed that this episode contained a neat visual parallel/reference to one of the visuals located near the end of the ED. For those interested in reading along with the manga, Episode 8 adapted the remainder of chapter 20 (19/32 pages), all of chapter 21, the first 7 pages of chapter 22 and then 5 pages from a different middle part of chapter 22 (so 12/24 pages), and then finally the first 6 pages of chapter 23 (6/30 pages). Total, this is equivalent to about 2.3 chapters worth of manga. According to Masakazu Ishiguro on Twitter, the remaining parts of chapter 22 had to be cut completely from the anime for like run-time related reasons (i.e. apparently they won't be included at the beginning of episode 9). And if anyone is interested in starting the manga after this season is finished (it is currently planned to adapt up to some part of tankōbon Volume 6 of the manga, likely somewhere in the range of chapters 34-37), I personally would still recommend starting the manga from the beginning regardless, as in addition to the standard cutting of extra dialogue and scenes from the anime for run-time and cinematic pacing, the chapter titles and cover pages of the manga also play a role in experiencing the foreshadowing of the story that the anime can’t quite replicate (due to the inherent difference in mediums).

Some lore explanation Maru and kiriko story takes place approximately ten years after the story of tokio But we already met alot of people from "heaven" they just aged poorly *REALLY POORLY*. And now To spoiler teritory it's a heavy one -shiro (the kid with bowl cut)and usami is the same person and mimihime (shiro crush) is the girl that maru have to kill -The children's in "heaven" is raised by the scientist as a vessel that the scientist can transfer their brain into much like kiriko (and yes the doctor that do it to kiriko is one of these scientists) -one of the reasons they choose theese children as vessels is because they are genetically modified by injecting them with alien dna that's why they're born faceless -after sometime the alien dna overpower the human dna thus turn them into a hiriko/man-eater -tokio isnt sick she's pregnant and yes it's "she" -Maru is tokio's son -Maru's dad (kona) is the hiruko/man-eater that cause kiriko to turn into well kiriko -the girl that gave kiriko her gun is one of the scientists that successfully transferred her brain into one of the kids that's also why the gun have their company logo and why she had the gun in the first place.

*Spoiler territory for manga below* *Begone yee who have not read the manga* Anime onlies gone? *Okay.* As someone who is mostly caught up on the manga, I am tracking on "most" of the things you said. I do have questions on a few of the things you said. - Usami=Shiro is pretty obvious since they both have the same hair/eye/skin color and also an affinity for machines. - Makes sense. - Although this is likely the case, it's interesting to note that it's kind of like a more assured cancer. You can get it when you are a kid, or you may live well into adulthood and not get it before you die of other causes. Aside from Shiro/Usami, plenty of the older children seemed to have lived well into their 20s/30s without the sickness emerging. I wonder if Usami not only killed himself due to Mimehime's death, but because he knows he will eventually get it as well and thus it's better to go out on his own terms while he still can. - Pretty obvious yeah. - Becomes pretty obvious later on as well. - What's your basis for believing the Maneater who almost ate Kiruko is/was Kona? I speedran through the manga so I may have missed some clues to this, but I don't recall anything that pointed to Kona's power (aside from him being able to see the kinds of monsters his peers would become) or him degrading to a maneater in the present time. I was thinking he is still out and about like Usami was. - I think that tracks. The question is, did she have a change of heart? Or is she essentially sending Maru to make things worse by injecting the vial into Tokio?

What if Dr Usami and the girl who died where Mimihime and the guy who got her nude picture? He said "she liked when I made things" And that guy would always be making things when we saw him (also they both look similar) In first ep Mimihime said she had a dream where a person looking like Tokito came to save her In this ep after the Dr kills himself we see Mimihime in the dark and then we see someone join her Then she said "I had a dream" And from the first ep we know she has a ability to kind off see in the future This also strengthens ur guys theory of the facility being in the past

Also my working theory is that girl in dream at the end is the girl that Maru killed. Also I think that "school" teachers infect kids with the disease to see if they can resist it. Which would explain "run". And the AI could be on the kids' side. Or teachers have no clue and its the AI thats evil. Also one thought I had is that events from the school and from the outside are not simultaneous. There could be huge time difference between them

Producers' (Kazuaki Takahashi & Kazuto Matsumura) comments on the audio commentary of Tengoku Daimakyo episode 6, part 1 The first proposal to Kodansha for the anime adaptation was made in April 2019, and it took about four full years to produce, which is longer than usual. The first time we proposed to Kodansha was in October 2019 (right after the third volume of the original work was released), and we set up a meeting to hear from Mr. Ishiguro about the future development of the original work. This also gave us an idea of where we should end the anime. Since we were working on the scenario in parallel with the serialization of the original work, we were working on the final scenario until last summer. The most time-consuming part of the process was to consider whether to make the last episode of the season 12 or 13 episodes, and whether to make the final episode an hour-long special. We are proud to say that we have come up with the best possible form, so I hope you will look forward to it. In fact, this is a good thing, because without the ability to coordinate the work as a studio, it would simply be a mess. In this work, Production I.G and director Mori (with a level of competence that makes it hard to believe that he is a first-time director) have done a good job of putting it all together.
