Come to think of it.... If it really was them in the future, they would have recognized that Maru looks almost exactly like Tokio... 🥴 Everyone we see, we are gonna question if we saw them 😂 I wonder if we already saw a young Doc? (not Usami) 🤔

Why did Robin want to learn some of Usami's techniques? 🤔 is he trying to save someone? Kiriko in Haruki's body perhaps? Does Haruki know what happened to his old body? Do you think Robin is a son of someone in the lab? What is this disease, and why didn't the doctor get the disease? Do people with abilities only get it? Did Kiriko have an ability? Why did the doctor un-alive himself? 🤔 did he do something awful? So many more questions we didn't talk about 😂

@@TwinNoJutsu I’m not gonna spoil anything, but just a lil help with connecting the dots - in the manga Usami said that he is “bad with remembering and recognizing faces” when Kiruko showed him Robin’s photo and asked if he knows him. While clearly everyone in the camp remembers Robin - he doesn’t. They just cut it out from the anime, which is not nice tbh cause it could explain some things

I didn’t consider Usami being Shiro, but I think it has to be with that end scene. Also Mimihime in the beginning of the series had a dream and someone with Tokio’s face saves them, was that foreshadowing this episode the whole time? This anime has been a real gem, I hope they continue adapting it after this season.

Those with an eye for detail may have noticed that when the bald Liviumen member tells the protestors that their leader Mizuhashi had died, the exact scene before that has their leader bedridden shows Mizuhashi’s mouth still clearly moving/breathing. There is some cut dialogue from the manga, specifically when the Liviumen are laying siege to the Immortal Order, where an Immortal Order member (one of the guys with a mustache) try to tell the invading Liviumen that Mizuhashi’s leg had been necrotic when she was originally admitted to the Immortal Order, and that if her leg hadn’t been amputated, she would have been at serious risk of dying. Also those who have watched this series’ ED enough times may have noticed that this episode contained a neat visual parallel/reference to one of the visuals located near the end of the ED. Specifically it’s the scene where Usami describes how when he made prosthetics for people in need it made Hoshio happy, it parallels the staging of the scene where Mimihime watches Shiro mess around with gadgets in the ED. And if it wasn’t obvious by the end of the episode, yes the insignia on the button Dr. Usami was holding before he killed himself, is indeed the same design as the one on Kiruko’s Kiru-Beam/laser-gun. For those interested in reading along with the manga, Episode 8 adapted the remainder of chapter 20 (19/32 pages), all of chapter 21, the first 7 pages of chapter 22 and then 5 pages from a different middle part of chapter 22 (so 12/24 pages), and then finally the first 6 pages of chapter 23 (6/30 pages). Total, this is equivalent to about 2.3 chapters worth of manga. According to Masakazu Ishiguro on Twitter, the remaining parts of chapter 22 had to be cut completely from the anime for like run-time related reasons (i.e. apparently they won't be included at the beginning of episode 9). And if anyone is interested in starting the manga after this season is finished (it is currently planned to adapt up to some part of tankōbon Volume 6 of the manga, likely somewhere in the range of chapters 34-37), I personally would still recommend starting the manga from the beginning regardless, as in addition to the standard cutting of extra dialogue and scenes from the anime for run-time and cinematic pacing, the chapter titles and cover pages of the manga also play a role in experiencing the foreshadowing of the story that the anime can’t quite replicate (due to the inherent difference in mediums).

As for the eye color difference, I think Usami has light grey eyes. The blue color in the girl’s eye is reflection of sky in the light color eye, which adds more sadness to it😢

Hazel. Hazel Eyes will change color to green and blue sometimes depending on many factors such as mood.

As a little note Kiruko used the word "aitai" when referring to Robin which is a very strongly coded word for "longing/yearning" usually used when missing a very close friend or lover.

Not a fan of you speculating during the episode and between the scenes, it ruins the immersion & thus the reaction to scenes. I'd save that for after the episode. Otherwise you're really intelligent and I'd like to continue watching you, so I'm kinda conflicted.

Maru means circle in Japanese. Remember that for season 2 or if you decide to read the manga

Some lore explanation Maru and kiriko story takes place approximately ten years after the story of tokio But we already met alot of people from "heaven" they just aged poorly *REALLY POORLY*. And now To spoiler teritory it's a heavy one -shiro (the kid with bowl cut)and usami is the same person and mimihime (shiro crush) is the girl that maru have to kill -The children's in "heaven" is raised by the scientist as a vessel that the scientist can transfer their brain into much like kiriko (and yes the doctor that do it to kiriko is one of these scientists) -one of the reasons they choose theese children as vessels is because they are genetically modified by injecting them with alien dna that's why they're born faceless -after sometime the alien dna overpower the human dna thus turn them into a hiriko/man-eater -tokio isnt sick she's pregnant and yes it's "she" -Maru is tokio's son -Maru's dad (kona) is the hiruko/man-eater that cause kiriko to turn into well kiriko -the girl that gave kiriko her gun is one of the scientists that successfully transferred her brain into one of the kids that's also why the gun have their company logo and why she had the gun in the first place.
