It is the same thing with my grandparents. They left peru 24 my grandfather's medical residency as an MD and surgeon. He always wanted to go back to peru to help out his people.... Especially the impoverished neighborhood he grew up in that had dirt floors and houses. When my Tia was born, They both decided to stay in america because the political upheaval and corruption in Peru were just too dangerous. He gave up helping his own people because he wanted to give his children and their descendants a better future. My grandfather served in Nam as did my grandmother in the medical core. They fought for a country to be proud of and I even ended up living and marrying into the country. It saddens me that the Communists have more reproductive and other rights "besides speech." Hey Steve, I learned something new. I didn't know that the Constitution of the United States does not address any personal conduct standards regarding candidates for high office. There are no limitations based on character or criminal record. Because I wasn't a very good student in high school, I had the misguided idea that a convicted felon could not run for president. This is a real learning experience for me. The Constitution allows citizens total choice of political candidates - for better or for worse.

On top of that, they're quite difficult to immigrate to, requiring a lot of money on hand or work lined up prior to moving. And so far, we're not on theur list of countries that refugees can come from.
