Throw a sheet or curtain over a lot of the backlog so you dont look at it everyday you walk in. Psychological trick to avoid being overwhelmed. Otherwise you will spend days listing and it will look like you havent made a dint. Just have one weeks worth, or so, at a time visible. Then you have a lot of smaller achievable goals

Still a full work day, except I cannot source or list. Get a rolling cart, they have two shelves, use it to put things away and gather books. 2. How about a rolling stool to sit on? When weight is in them they don't move. 3. You can use the rolling stool to sit your trash can on, I've seen you pack and label, you are always leaning down to your right to put the strip in the trash. 4. In the trash can put extra plastic bags in the bottom, pull the full one out and grab in the bottom for a fresh bag. It saves steps! Blessings

Hi Mel - your cordless vacuum/mop looks great. What brand and model is it? Would be great to clean my storage unit which doesn't have a nearby power point. Also, I watch Minimal Mom, a minimalist channel and one of her sayings is 'five minutes matters'. It's amazing how much you can get done in a short amount of time, and I think it works best if you have a focus. Glad you're feeling more rested and back on track.

Hi Mel, what are you going to do about the free books you get from the op shop once a month? Are you ending that arrangement? I would be worried about losing that source. Get well soon, lots of love from Adelaide.❤

Oh Mel,.how I envy you. I am currently working out of several storage units while I am having my fence moved and a shop built. I can hardly wait to get back to some sort or normalcy. After our family farm selling and having to move. I was so spoiled for so long to have my Garage, shoo right out the back door. This last year has been nuts. My head space is very unorganized. Glad you have yours somewhat back. Hope your leg and back get better ASAP. HAY, did someone take the books 🤔😉💓👩🌾

Greetings from Texas (USA) 😊 I noticed a James Patterson in your single listing pile/shelf. He has enough books to fill an Olympic pool. How do you decide when to bundle his many books or sell them individually?
@backfromburnout2 жыл бұрын
He does have so many books! I sell some of them individually if they're in good condition, I prefer to bundle the more acceptable ones into lots. I bundle him either by series or if they are just his general stand alone fiction. And if I bundle by series I try to do in the order of the books wherever possible.

I put about 20 boxes of FREE BOOKS in my driveway one time in little flat boxes so they would be easy to pick up and tote off. Hundreds of books. I don't know if anyone took any of them or not, but the next time I looked out, the city was out there with the big truck picking them up. Or should I say they picked up the boxes. The BOOKS all fell out of the boxes. The truck went on its merry way. I am a disabled senior citizen. I spent HOURS out there picking up books one at a time and putting them in the trash. I'm not quite sure why the city didn't notice they had strewn books all down the street, about a city block's length, but I imagine they were in their air conditioned giant truck with the radio blaring and thought they'd picked up all the boxes on the side of the street. I wish I had the energy to box up my death pile and take them around to those "Little Libraries" and donate them to those or even more, I wish _I_ had a little library out in my front yard. I have literally thousands of books that I see comps on Ebay for $3.99 with free shipping. I can't waste my time on listing thousands of books to lose money. But my death pile is getting out of control. I need to do a lot of bundles and I do well with bundles, like "Lot of 25 Large Print Western Novels" but again, I'm disabled, and it's hard to lift a box of 25 books. The last "lot" of a multitude of books I sold was a lot of 35 golf books and I about broke my back dragging it across the yard, up the stairs at the post office and hefting it up onto the counter. People are always telling me to box them up and take them to the library, but again, boxing up heavy books and toting them to the library is beyond my capabilities. Then people will say "Call them. They'll come pick them up." No, they won't. Soooo many people are of the belief that books don't sell anymore. I beg to differ. One of my friends told me I should "get rid of all those cheap books and find something more profitable to sell." I said, "You mean more than the book of seashells that I sold for $129.99 or the cookbook I sold for $71 or the other books I sell for $29.99 or my "bread and butter" books that I "only" sell for $7.99? THOSE "cheap books"?

Hi Mel, enjoyed watching your videos, enjoy your enthusiasm! About the Taro cards, I'd definitely throw those out, as anything to do with uncanny power, I would not want around, and wouldn't pass on to others. The Good Book says that it's bad, see the 5th book of the Bible, which is Deuteronomy, Chapter 18 see verse 10, magic, sorcery, divination, looking for omens, its called detestable. Since you asked, I would definitely throw all that kind of stuff out in the trash. You're such a nice person, and I wouldn't like to see anything negative drawn into your household.

As you went to the eBay forum are you able to provide feedback to eBay? It identifies us as eBay sellers and would love if we could have that available.

One way to get rid of undesirable books that are selling on Ebay by the hundreds if to put them in with a lot. Like if you sell a lot of 20 cozy mysteries. 1-2 could be books that are selling by the hundreds on Ebay. The other 18-19 can be really good cozy mysteries. And it's not like you are pawning off a crap book to someone. They might like the book and they might donate it to their library. I don't like re-donating books to the libraries where I source books because they will be in the way of the books I want to look at when I return and I have, in the past, bought the same book I just donated because it's a good book so I forget I just donated it and buy it again!

@backfromburnout2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. They did a hip ultrasound which was ok. They are doing a bone scan today. I just don’t know. Maybe it’s just been muscular from my repetitive motions I do while lifting so many books. The break has been good for it though and the pain is better then it was but still not gone. If the scans come back all clear I will start with the Chiro.

I'm wondering why bother with all that organising the sacks onto the shelves? Wouldn't it be more productive to just "grab a handful" as you suggest early on and use that energy listing? I'm selling used clothing and face pretty much the same issue, albeit on a much smaller scale. Also, I'm worried about buying several months of inventory in advance (even if it works out cheaper that way) as sourcing gets me out of the house, where I get fresh air and a bit of social interaction. I'd be scared of being stuck in the house with a mountain of stock for weeks on end. Hope the leg heals soon, hang on in there.
