_The Lady in Red_ only gets stick because Chris De Burgh looks like a Dustman. If it'd been recorded by George Michael it would've been a lot more popular.

West Life taught the original artists how it should have been done. They also had a massive impact on the foot stool market. Changing how we look at seating requirements for pop stars for ever.

My first introduction to Chris De Burgh was when I was in a school play at primary school. It was probably mid 80s and I played RIchard The Lionheart and I can't remember how many songs were used, but Jerusalem Is Lost was definitely used

Shouting out from the Midwest USA 🇺🇸 Came across your channel by KZbins suggestion. I was your 12th view and 3rd like. And, possibly your second "outside comment." 1.) Your vanacular is a hoot and truly appreciated. 2.) On 14 of the 15, you are spot-on. 3.) Coldplay would be the exception. To me, their songs are poetry in motion, walls of sound flowing, colorful rivers of musical notes 🎵 into a lake of serenity ✨️ 💕. But then again, I am blessed because I happen to see and hear sounds as-well-as hear and see colors. (BTW: I am 70 years young and continue to spin vinyl, CD's and SACD's on rather esoteric stereo gear. I have no computer, however, do own a kick-ass Galaxy S23 Note Plus cellphone with "developers options" opened and available.)

Coldplay seem to be a band that everyone hates, but still manage to be incredibly successful. I've only heard the singles, which weren't enough to make me track down the albums, but equally, don't make me want to actively avoid them.
@MatthewLenton20 күн бұрын
I liked Coldplay to start with, but I switched off around Viva La Vida and don't have any idea of most of their songs since then I don't mind some RHCP songs, but I prefer Faith No More One group I would definitely have on my list is UB40. I can't stand any of their songs I remember catching Westlife's debut on UK TV. I think they were still called Westside then before they had to change their name. We then later got Boyzlife when there was the join up with Boyzone (not sure which of each lot was in this group). I couldn't stand the whole mid to late 90s boy/girl group scene. The only one I didn't mind was Sugababes, although there have been so many iterations but the original trio are back and actually sing live

UB40 became pointless when they (seemed to) just bring out covers of other people's songs - Which ties in to the boy/girl group scene...

Not really a fan of any of the ersatz-soul/r&b*/hip-hop acts - (and had forgotten about I'll be missing you) - but Jay-Z's Hard Knock Life is, for me, the nadir of this sort of thing. (The Fugee's Killing Me Softly would be OK if they stuck to the song and cut out all the shouting "one time" in the background. *A friend related his daughter telling him she was in to R&B - he was quite excited at the prospect of getting to play her his old Jeff Beck & Eric Clapton records...

Hard to disagree with any of your choices except for one - Frank Zappa. Admittedly theres a lot to dislike of his music but within his extensive catalogue, there are some absolute gems which when compiled, make for about an hour or so of great listening. which, in my opinion, gives him a pass.
