Not even Yngwie can Yungwie anymore. But when he was Yngwie fucking Malmsteen he was unmatched. The blazing speed, the huge vibrato, the pinpoint accuracy and pitch perfect bends.

For sure. Yngwie in his prime was beyond "impressive". A lot of people can shred up something impressive, then they have passages that sound really impressive and clean. Meanwhile Yngwie in his prime would rip up fast, clean, insanely accurate lines... and they would keep on coming and coming, with tricky, insanely clean lines linked one after the other.

Well its heavily edited, it consists of dozens of clips. Also it's pretty big generalization, not every "bedroom guitarist" (= literally every guitarist, at times) edits their playing at all. In fact, most people don't edit, edit would be cheating. It's normal to use a reverb and and backing track in solos. But yeah most people don't upload their practicing sessions with a dry tone

Kudos to you for showing the process. Most people don't show that part. Yngwie's technique is amazing, but one of the hardest things he does in my opinion is the pitch perfect high bends on a 21 fret guitar.

@@z1g if you have perfect pitch bending perfectly to a given note if very easy because you have a very clear target and having an extremely light gauge allows for less force engagement when bending which translates to less explosiveness needed and more focus on precision.

To clearify, i only ment that Jaris is in my opinion playing in equal league, not that other artists are bad. Then i personaly like Jaris style since he is also a very good singer so he can fully integrate he's own voice with the instruments, which is not that common in this type of music he makes, it's a realy difficlut song style to master, especialy in so many registers as he do, i hawe not realy heard any other artist doing that all by them self in this genre with their own vocals in all registers like that.

You're doing great. What I like is you have muting involved with the shred. That's one of the real secrets high speed picking. Controlling the tone between open, semi-open and muted notes gives dynamics and ferocity.

Yngwie way better than most I have seen attempt it - Yngwie uses all scalloped fretboards as well so that gives him an edge for the lightning fast runs. You are ripping that on the Ibanez Wizard /Jackson Dinky necks so if you can play his stuff on a standard rosewood (flat) necks you are killing it Jari! Loved the video.

Hmm. The sweeps at 1:10 are around 16,5 notes per second (16th triplets at ~165 bpm). I've never seen Yngwie play anything that fast (Haven't listened to a whole lot of him admittedly, but still). On the other hand, I've never seen Jari struggle to play anything before either :D Also, what the hell, I was sure I've been subscribed for years, but apparently I wasn't. Well, now I am.

Finally read the description, saw the original is Malmsteen's Fire and Ice, and gave it a listen. The original is 12 notes per second (16th triplets at 120 BPM). No wonder Jari is having issues with it: he's playing it 37,5% faster than the original! :D
