As much as I adore James Cheek and Howard Wang's performances (and I do! They both have great voices and are doing spectacularly!) Qi Rong's voice really is my favorite part of the dub! The dub really brings the character to life and shows off his personality and manner of speaking *SO* clearly in a way that (at least for me! other opinions are of course valid!) didn't fully come across from reading a subtitled translation. It's natural for some things, especially jokes and contextual wordplay, to get lost in translation, but I'm so glad we have a fantastic dub that exists that's able to give us a better idea of what I imagine it would be like to be able to pick up on the humor and other subtle contextual intricacies in the original dialogue. If I were to show my friend (who prefers subs and has watched tgcf subbed) one episode to convince her she needs to watch the dub too it would have to be one of these episodes with Qi Rong. Jordan Dash Cruz... fucking round of applause king, I could listen to your unhinged cackling all day

oh my goodness this has to be one of the best english dubs i’ve heard in my life. qi rong’s laugh is everything i am such a sucker for evil laughs and this is so good it’s asmr fr. hua cheng and xie lian and just everyone sound so good and are fantastic actors. it’s so well done not to even mention the dialogue.

I am a Chinese person who loves TGCF (and MDZS), and I have watched the Chinese, Japanese and English dub versions (because I can understand all three languages), and I have watched all of your reactions to both the Chinese version and the English dub. For me, obviously, the Chinese original delivers the most accurate meaning/characters, but I can see how the English dub did a fantastic job of localising the lines and helping people relate more.
