I understand why you think Katniss is confused about whether or not she loves Peeta because their relationship in the film is not explored as much as it is in the books, but here is a quote from the end of the last book in which Katniss explains what she feels for peeta: “Peeta and I grow back together. There are still moments when he clutches the back of a chair and hangs on until the flashbacks are over. I wake screaming from nightmares of mutts and lost children. But his arms are there to comfort me. And eventually his lips. On the night I feel that thing again, the hunger that overtook me on the beach, I know this would have happened anyway. That what I need to survive is not Gale's fire, kindled with rage and hatred. I have plenty of fire myself. What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again. And only Peeta can give me that. So after, when he whispers, "You love me. Real or not real?" I tell him, "Real.”

The ending is actually perfect. It brings us back to her discussion with Gale, in the forest, at the very beginning. She mentioned how she would never want children, not where they lived, not where children were treated that way. Her having two kids is evident symbolism for peace for children, for how things have changed.
@rachelrosenstein99759 ай бұрын
Exactly. She only said she didn’t want children because of the games, she didn’t want to have to worry about them getting reaped. So after the war when there were no games she finally realised she actually did want children. And how do I know it came from her? Because no matter how much Peeta wanted them, he would never EVER force her to do anything she didn’t want to do. So having children was her choice.

Katniss grew up with Gale and does love him. He is family to her. it’s not a romantic type of love. However, she’s young and in the middle of a war with a lot on her shoulders and I think it’s easy to confuse the type of love you have for someone that has become family to you and romantic love. I don’t think she wanted to admit to even herself that she didn’t love Gale that way because she didn’t want to hurt him. Katniss is incredibly empathetic and she will put others wants before her own and I think it’s clear with her relationship with Gale. Like he said she only kisses him when he is in pain, she is trying to make him feel better by being the person he expects her to be: his girlfriend. The quote has been commented a few times so I won’t put it here but it shows that as she matures she begins to understand what love is to her and finds that in Peeta. Hope that kind of clears up the confusion behind the love triangle. Her inner dialogue is obviously explored more in the book so it’s easier to come to these conclusions as opposed to the movies.

It was hard to imagine anyone being worse than President Snow at first, but enter President Coin in the book AND movies of Mockingjay. Between Donald Sutherland and Julianne Moore, they both play amazing villains. I'm kind of in the same mindset of a lot of the fandom that Gale is partially to blame for what happened to Primrose, since he came up with the idea for the firebombs that got dropped on the crowd. And it's all so heartbreaking when Katniss returns to 12 and starts shouting at the top of her lungs at the cat after Primrose's death, then fully broke down in tears, since she never got to properly grieve. I love the ending when we see Katniss and Peeta with their kids.

It’s even worse because the reason the story happened in the first place was because Prim was reaped and Katniss is very protective of her which was why she volunteered because she at least had a better chance of survival than Prim. There are just a lot of things that the book emphasized but not the movie. First of all Boggs in the book is my favorite like that scene when he was asked if Gale looked dashing in his official soldier uniform and Boggs was like "Well don't expect us to be too impressed. We just saw Finnick Odair in his underwear." But some important details are just left out a bit so some parts of the movie will be confusing to some. - Gale talked about inventing the same bomb that was used in the end. That's why Katniss asked him if that was his. He was also always complaining about about HER feelings to him but never saying about why he cares for her or if he loves her. He was even jealous of Finnick. And I knew I hated him when he was looking at a deranged, tortured Peeta and he was like "I can't compete with that." to Katniss like??? what the hell man - How much they tortured Johanna and Peeta while in the Capitol. The would drown Johanna and then electrocute the water with her in it. She would have panic attacks when it rains. - Finnick was having major emotional breakdowns even worse than Katniss when they were in 13. He was not himself and would walk around just in his hospital gown. Katniss is the only one who would actually talk to him and have him act like his normal self. - Katniss reacted so poorly with how Peeta changed. He was tortured so much and she was so mad and in pain and lost that she just resorted to hating him. But Haymitch was like, get a grip girl if the positions were reversed Peeta would've done everything for you no matter what. Real.
@MsAriesQueen Жыл бұрын
- that's why Johanna is bald, for better electrocution - her and katniss relationship developing as they train hard for katniss to be shipped off to the capitol and Johanna to fail miserably and be put back in to the hospital - her actual conditions which allowed her and gale to go hunt and feel normal - katniss ptsd throughout 13 is incredible. Sooooooo many things they just couldn't show in the movies with time. But the movies did woooonderfully and the cast was amazing!!

My favorite thing about this story compared to others beyond it showing real affects of war, is that the protagonist DIDNT WIN THE WAR. The rebels won it without her involvement at all. She didn’t even kill snow the people did. It’s a brilliant turn of expectations. We all expect the protagonist to be the one completing everything but even though she was capable, in the grand scheme of things she stayed just an icon while all the districts and the people were the ones fighting back for themselves knowing the risks. And they won. And in the end she’s not treated as the hero and elected she goes back alone with a couple other broken people and lives her life away from it all. It’s so much more realistic and it’s why it hits so much harder for me

Katniss' relationship with Peeta and Gale is much better explained in the books, in the films it ended up missing some very important points for the interpretation of feelings (But I still think the films are very very good). In the book we can also see how mf Gale really is and it shows the amount of guilt he carries in Primrose's murder, he and Coin were planning that attack so that the blame would fall on the Capitol. So Gale is as mf as President Coin, low and dirty attitudes even for wars.

These entities do include those large canines from the first film, but they also include the Tracker Jackers, the Jabberjays, those odd-looking mandrills from the Quarter Quell, and these nightmare-inducing monsters in Mockingjay Part 2. The Mockingjays don't count as they were a result of crossbreeding between the Jabberjays and normal mockingbirds when the former were released into the wild.

The constant agreeance with Gale is beyond me😂😂 I don't know a SINGLE person who would put Gale above Finnick. I've never seen a person like Gale THIS much. (This is 9 months late and no one will probably read it but here are my two cents about Gale): Even tho Katniss is confused, I think it's because she does indeed love Gale but not romantically. Gale and Katniss were always just friends and never were in a romantic relationship. Gale was the one who initiated the first kiss between them when Katniss got back from her first Hunger Games because he was jealous of Peeta. Gale couldn't just for a second understand and empathize with what Katniss had been through by being in The Hunger Games. To guilt trip her about decisions she made with Peeta to save her life in the Games rather than just comforting her and leaving well enough alone is crazy. Especially when they were never together in the first place. He tried to make her feel bad that she might like Peeta. And she gave in every time to appease Gale because she does love him (platonically.) But even when Katniss concedes and gives Gale what it is she thinks he wants (through attention/kisses), he makes her feel bad about that too. I do think she should've just stopped because at some point it's clear as day that she loves Peeta even if she doesn't realize it herself but Gale also needed to stop bringing it up ESPECIALLY once they were really in the meat of war and suffering. Stop talking about your non-existent relationship with Katniss when we have bigger things to worry about. He was a red flag for more than one reason. As far as his ideologies of war, I get it in a sense because at the end of the day he is a kid too, and is moving based on anger and hatred of the Capitol. But he was becoming the very thing he was set out to destroy and Katniss did not want to continue the cycle of unnecessary violence. Gale even suggesting killing people in the mines when he and Katniss lost their fathers to a mine explosion is insane, and it showed the type of person Gale was (at least at that point in his life.)

I’m so confused as to the support of Gale here and in the past movie review. I always understood where Gale was coming from on his war views even if I didn’t agree. But I always got annoyed and hated him guilt tripping Katniss, him putting himself and his feelings over understanding Katniss and her trauma just seemed selfish. I know no one who would put him on top of finnick ! Like what!

@disistheway2679 just a couple days ago Israel bombed a refugee camp because apparently 1 Hamas official was in the camp. I’m not saying Katniss represents Hamas but it’s very similar to when president snow saw Katniss in a makeshift hospital and bombed the hospital. Just because of 1 person. The only difference is, Israel is being called the hero while president snow was called a villain.

@@hiymecorp.258it truly breaks my heart. i’ve been bingewatching hunger games reactions lately and it’s honestly making me feel sad and empty watching it for entertainment when it’s happening right now in real life. i guess that’s what the books were made to represent, though.

Gayle was so annoying even in the book, going "pick me, pick me" when Katniss is literally trying to survive. I felt so relieved when he started discussing war stratergies and came up with that delayed-attack thing. It showed that he is not such a nice guy. Katniss recognized it too. I get so annoyed when people agree with Gayle when he says " Snow did it to us, so its ok if we do it too". Thats the whole point, you are becoming what u are fighting against. Also, after reading about Finnick's death, I literally threw the book away and needed a moment to take it in.

For anyone not sure or just for you lovely reaction by the way, it was actually given as a pretty big Easter egg from the first introduction of Coin's character what she was ultimately seeking out as her end game and far more importantly, what she was capable of fairly early on. Easter egg being her name, because President Coin and President Snow are just two sides of the exact same "coin". They're both incredibly utilitarian and controlling, but manipulative, they care way more about their own particular people while also almost casually ignoring the other people that are technically a part of their perspective nations. They both hold grudges for literally decades. And their attitude towards children is that they are of vital importance for the future, but in the most cold, clinical, scientific, and "grand scheme" way possible. A big part of the reason they even decided to jump into this rebellion was specifically and directly because of the fact that district 13 suffered a serious outbreak of some sort of pox a few years early that had not only wiped out a huge portion of their populations children but also rendered a great many people infertile. They literally needed fresh genes to be able to survive. Is that outbreak hadn't occurred for them she likely would have Waited longer if she had bothered to try to take snow down at all. Both of them also are fully on board the notions of guilty by association or the sins of the father. A size of a portion of district 13 who is on the older side remembers the first rebellion... That the capital makes it a point to try to keep quiet about life in Panem. Strategy more importantly they are fully aware of the fact that aside from a few career tributes that no child or parent wants their kid in the games no one is doing it voluntarily. But even know and it points acknowledged that the career tributes add essentially been brainwashed😊 for roughly 95% of their lifetimes too believe In the glory and pro-games & pro-gladiator propaganda they leaned from the illegal but encouraged and protected tribute trai ing academies, talks about not having a choice when he tries to kill katniss and peeta at the cornucopia. However both of them are fully willing to sacrifice other people's children that they do not considered part of "their people". Fully prepared to allow her people and to potentially jail or execute former victors. It's just a different matter how they dress up their atrocities to show the world, because possibly the biggest similarity between the two of them is an invitation for propos😂

The symbolism in these movies is incredible - the scene where Finnick died reminds me of when Cato died to the mutts, Katniss has to kill someone to put them out of misery from a slow death by the mutts. It very much reminds me of how the Capitols creations causes this, causes her to be a killer.

Christian Blanco here on KZbin does a series where he tells the stories of the many Hunger Games. I don’t know if they are based on the author’s history of the games or his own creative ability but they are some good stories to get lost in. They also include an extension to the games after this movie because of some event that happens in the storyline of the stories. The story about the capitol’s hunger games is very interesting. The chick with the fangs and Joanna come up with the events.

I always feel like everyone is harsh about Katniss’ relationships with Gale & Peeta. While Gale is 2 years older, Katniss & Peeta are only 16 when this film starts. She never wanted a romantic relationship with anyone because she never wanted kids that would have to be eligible for the reapings.

reason no leaves or kills Peeta simply all of them of him their lives by giving the 8 min warning. Also no one blames Peeta for actions he made while being brain washed. Katniss is in love with him and she still in many ways owes her life to him from every giving her the bread to all the stuff in the 2 Hunger Games they were in
