I had never heard this song until two days ago when my son’s high school choir sang it at UIL Contest. He sings Tenor 2. This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. My son told me that the first time they rehearsed it he knew it was going to make me cry. I was already tearing up when the song started. I was a wreck by the end! My husband of 31 years passed away seven months ago and this song resonated deep within my soul.

The poem itself does not come anywhere close to the emotional impact of the same words set to this music. Neither do any of the numerous different versions of this song that I had to sift through to finally find this one that is the exact same arrangement my son's choir sang. Music is my heart language.
