My husband of 40 years was just admitted to the hospital again, struggling with the legacy of Covid lung scarring. I can’t be with him which leaves a void in both of us. So listening to this is both a balm and a prayer. Thanks for sharing.

My husband/best friend/Twin Flame left this world almost 6 years ago now and every time I hear this poem, I think of him. We both had NDEs (near death experiences) as children so we knew we don't go far when we die and our consciousness goes with us but I marvel at the ways he has found to assure me the he knows way more about what's going on with me, and in my heart, than my earth bound loved ones.

@THE DESOLATE SOUL Women DO care. Perhaps it is just as you said, 'you wrote so much poetry for women', that you are just going through the motions each time - women can pick up in a nanosecond when a man is being 'insincere' with them - and a man who writes poetry and falls head over heels for every single woman he meets IS, by definition, insincere. I'd dump a man in a heartbeat if I learned that he was treating me exactly the same as all his previous girlfriends - it shows a pattern of emotional immaturity and a man who falls so quickly and totally for every woman is VERY likely to fall for someone else when he's with US! We women want to be treated differently to all your previous girlfriends - to feel like you feel more for us than the others. Falling head over heels in love with every single woman you get involved with - life doesn't work like that and we learn as we come out of our teens and into our twenties and thirties, ie, growing emotionally, that not every relationship is 'the one' (very few are) - then when we finally DO meet 'the one' - we know how real it is this time.

I am listening to a poem that I don't understand at all in a dark room at midnight, the poem is so magnificent that the four walls in my room shine light on me and laugh at my face with a peaceful smile. When the surgeon was leaving my beloved's room to prepare for his surgery, I stopped him for a moment and said --- 'When you're holding my husband's heart, you'll be holding mine, too.' My beloved held my heart from the moment we met. He was friend, lover, mirror, home, laughter, comfort, morning and night. When his heart beat for the last time, I had my heart on his chest. In that silence I knew what grief without measure, felt like. I carry his heart in mine and always will and he carried mine with him, to whatever lays in the great beyond.

@@poems9343 I guess you study/studied literature . I heard the poem . It’s unique but can have many different interpretations. Was that your intention ? Leave it to the audience to decide ? What is your perspective if there is only one interpretation? Literature though has never have had one interpretation. That’s the magic in poetry. It seems though that you are surrendering at your own free will without hearing the calling. Cause your physical impairment as in the poem is not allowing you to see. Are you sure you are not surrendering before you lose your hearing as well as your vision and become blind ?Who you are surrendering too?

Oh, I indeed paid attention....and it was worse than a dagger to the heart. It was an eviscerating knife to the stomach. If you have found love, true love, I beg of you to keep it well. Don't end up like me, spending the last thirteen years alone with nought but whiskey, poetry and other specimens of literature to preserve my sanity, praying every night that I may not wake up in the morning, being unwanted and assured of the prospect of dying alone. I wouldn't wish this existence on the worst of mine enemies.

And when she pressed her hand against mine there was a spark of madness, driven into me the words of so many. That elusive quality flickering in the tangled vines of floating lovers I had seen in the streets drifting aimlessly, almost responsibly irreverent carrying in them deeply that secret they could never elude to me or others in any form of language other than self experience. How can there be explanation of the feeling that moment held within it. The weird glow licking the room. . As my thoughts and the vessel holding them were no longer separate from anything and ideas of this didn't exist either in that moment. My eyes did not see, my hands did not feel, only rivers of experience thrust forward pinning it to that spot as we flowed eternity through itself. Do the peaks of mountains hold the snow? Or is it at home sleeping where it happens to fall. Is light reaching my eyes or do we meet together singing? The wave is cast nowhere the beach doesn't call. Do I truly love you or am I a mad man screaming at apparitions? And then in a flash it wraps back into itself and all I was really doing was holding your hand. Just holding your hand...

This video is perfection. The poem of course. But her accent, beautiful pronunciation, pacing; she is perfection. The background music. All is perfection

Loved the poem...the reading and the music....we all appreciate something different.....that is what makes the world go round. Imagine if there were only one beautiful voice....one woman....one man...one note of music...we would never know the difference and what difference would it make. I carry your heart in my heart...wow.
