Never in my 42 years have I had a sheriff ask me about a fishing or hunting license. That was cool of him though because game wardens have more authority than any form of police here in the states, and can be real dicks as well. Fishing here is just like Australia, each state regulates their own recreational fishing, thus you'll need a different license for each state.

I live in the Pacific Northwest. Between OR, WA, and ID I spend almost $400/year just to legally fish our "public" waters. I litterally have to buget for the expensive😬. No liscense need in HI, it's almost like they want people to fish and spend money there🙃

Florida fisherman here. - 1) every state requires its own fishing license and FWC dont mess around. 2) hit up David @david_rocca_ the guy catches the biggest Jacks on poppers in South Florida on poppers. Enjoy the trips and watch out for the crocs in the keys

If u are still in the keys try fishing the bridges around indian key, vaca cut, bahia honda, or long key. I think those are the best places from land with lures. Maybe some snook/tarpon action around jewfish creek.

Good stuff. Been watching you since Morning Tide. I miss those videos. I just got back from lobstering in the keys with my family. We always hit up the jump bridge while we are there. Really cool place. That grouper was called a Goliath grouper or jewfish. Nice catch.

That grouper you caught was a juvenile Goliath grouper. They can get up to 800 pounds and over 6 ft in length

The smaller striped fish are a species called grunts here, the grouper is a golaith grouper and are mandatory release and can grow over 600 pounds. I have lived in Florida for 35 plus years.

southern fl is really cool, but yeah land based sucks everywhere claims private/ no parking and every bridge is full of people fishing for dinner. a kayak or boat is really needed to get the most out of the area

DOA terroreyz root beer color and 4in nlbn mullet is about 90% guarantee to hook a tarpon. Land based fishing in the keys is pretty tough. Only certain bridges are fishable..most are too shallow. Lucky catch at the jump bridge..lots of juvenile Goliath groupers but always people there swimming

i relate to this video so much just doing random trips to places u never been to and try to catch fish, recently went to california to try to catch sand bass and was a blast and almost got arrested for trespassing and even went to the catalina islands very beautiful but man was it hard work getting to spots and trying to find fish it just makes catching those fish so much more rewarding. but just exploring trying to find potential spots in a new place is such a challenge especially on your own.

I hope u visited bass pro shops in marathon. There is like 150lb plus tarpon plus other fish near the docks. Fishing down in Bahia Honda is good. But u really need to fish off shore for the exotics

23:35 that’s not poo my friend hahaha I know it’s not your style but the keys really are best enjoyed with a boat. Like you found out, the beaches are often nasty. Even if it’s just a kayak to get to the backcountry to wade fish the flats or access more remote shore spots you’d have more fun and more success. Shore fishing the keys is mostly catching a bunch of mangroves and grunts.

I fish that bridge spot from the wall at night for tarpon when I'm down there but the big ones get into the bridge pilings pretty quick, early morning on the incoming off the wall is good for sharks, jacks and occasional tarpon on topwater

Florida is real tough fishing! You have to hit the incoming or outgoing tides and the best times to fish is early morning at the crack dawn or later in the evening when it starts cooling down. Once that sun is up good luck trying to catch fish 😂 Stay near bridges with lots of shade and cover.

You can get tarpon ona big bucktail jig. The bigger the better. Seen people catch them on those before but most people use live bait

Check the tides! That High Outgoing Tide is the best time to fish for the big predator fish! Snook & Tarpon really get active on that tide!
