bacha there is another rod that can give you i think 5 mutations its called the auric rod and its from the sunken chests that spawn around the map every mutations chance of you getting it is 20% so that makes it 100% chance you get a mutation and the lowest mutation is 2x all the way up to 5x its pretty rare but you have probably done worse
