it's amazing that the 12 speed shimano chain isn't rusting, seems like it's either the m8100, m7100 or the m6100, my m8100 will rust in several days even if i don't expose it with water.

Ultegura M8100 doesn't rust in Japan. It does get a little black though. Where do you live? I don't think it would rust even on the coast. That M8100 might be a Shimano fake.

@@jedimaster-oy6ms Taiwan. i have a video in my channel examining the rust on the chain, i don't think it's a fake chain, somehow it only rusts on the outer link plates and not the inner link plates, i don't think fake chain manufacturers would even bother to make the inner link plates rust proof.

I heard that it's rusted, but there seems to be a reason why it's only on one side. It seems like there's something attached only to the outside, so it might be important to look for it.

Maintenance methods are incorrect. The surface treatment has been removed, causing corrosion. The plate of the CN-M8100 is chrome plated (Roller link plate Chromizing)and SIL-TEC, so do not remove the plating by polishing it with sandpaper. Simply remove dirt with Finish Line's pink water-based cleaner and chain cleaner, and then apply oil to prevent discoloration. Finish Line's Chain Cleaner Brush cleans your chain by simply turning it while it's still attached to the cranks.

@@jedimaster-oy6ms it rusted first before i even decided to clean it, the CN-M8100 inner link(roller link) is chrome plated thats why it does not rust at all, the outer link(pin link) shimano says the treatment is gray, it is useless against rust, M8100, M7100 and M6100 all have the gray treatment. i already bought the CN-M9100 chain, it has chrome on the inner link and SIL-TEC on the outer link, now i just need to observe if this top tier chain will rust or not.
