Part of me thinks this may be artistic license to convey just how dark it is in a mine, but there's absolutely no doubt you put all of that show and network to shame in your show, and you do all the work! Not even Bear Grills can claim that! He's got a camera crew. You're like the Les Stroud of Abandoned Mines. I would like to see more "Forgotten Places" too, like that abandoned military site that you showed a few weeks ago! That was awesome and kind of fills in the gaps with your channels name. I love the mines, but I originally stumbled upon you after my favorite ghost town explorers shifted their channel to solving missing persons mysteries. So go show us some ghost towns too! Most of them have to do with mining anyway. Lots of love to you and your adventures!
@RyanDCH Жыл бұрын
Maybe that can be an idea for your off-season? Snowed out of a mine? Go show us some kind of archeological site uins in the desert? An old mining town? A museum like Jeff Whatshisname does now and then? Maybe do an episode with Dan Hurd and Mount Baker Mining and Minerals on what's going on with current gold prospecting? Or do an episode with the Cerro Gordo guy that owns the whole ghost town and old mine. You have no need for any of these suggestions. I've been a loyal fan for a long time without any of my suggestions being involved. I will continue to be a loyal fan even if you never read this. Just throwing it out there since you laid the smack-down on the Big D!

Gly your channel is remarkable and impeccable!! I wouldn’t worry too much about others trying to imitate yours. 😊. That’s why the real audience is on your channel not a carbon copy of it. Thank you😊
@RetroGamerVX Жыл бұрын
Your misunderstanding what's going on there, it's all about psychology, if they wanted a well lit, steady shot they could very well do that, but they are mot, they are looking for excitement, mystery and danger, and that's what the poorly lit, rapidly moving, pov shot gives them..this is why your show and style would not translate to TV, its a completely different style, with shots, lighting etc carefully chosen to build the emotion and carry the narrative they are after, tv production, is a very different world.

Yes! Small team vs. ENTERPRISE team! Slim team equals tight story... Fat team churning hours filling hard drives so story can be morphed any way in POST! Lazy shooting fixed in post or one cam and one guy? I've been that one-guy shooter team since I started in the 1990's and have amassed almost TWENTY terabytes of mixed content all by myself!

Gly even if they take you up on the challenge I probably wouldn't watch theirs because I don't like my documentaries scripted. The labored breathing and change in your voice will always convey more feeling and most of the camera work is done so you can almost be right there ourselves. Been watching since day one for a reason, but best of luck Discovery.

Even though I'm from the UK, you constantly keep showing amazing scenery up close and personal of areas I could not possibly imagine I could visit (outside the mines). When inside the mines, ohh boy... it's like we are in a different world!! As always, I'm always looking forward to your next episode.

Gly, there is a difference. Discovery can make a 60 min documentary from 5 mins of content, with constant advertising interruption, constant repetition and the obligatory false panting excitement of the presenter. You do quite the opposite; Take the content of a mini-series and condense it into 30-40 ‘shared adventure’, with someone with genuine enthusiasm, great knowledge and whom I would be proud to call a friend and share ‘more than a few beers’. I cannot say that about anything Discovery can now produce and cannot begin to express my thanks for the adventure you have take us all on

Discovery hires independent teams to produce content that have mixed abilities and equipment loadouts. Some are spec shooters trying to create content and hoping it sells. We had a DISCOVERY CREW shooting a pyro convention in Havasu and afterwords we heard it morphed from "Families shooting fireworks" to "insane and illegal explosives..." So the crew in a mine may have run with the gear they brought for ANY shoot then found it weak in the environment. Then used editing to pump the "emotion" and "atmosphere!" Keep up the great work, Gly! Keep it "real" and raw and let us feel it REAL too. As in the Lost Souls film... Doug out!

I think you need to be you. You were good and the great and now ehhh.. What happened? Did you drop some carbide in your soup.?.? If your efforts are to become like those shows, they will make all the reasons we watch you disappear. Your efforts and collaboration to his point have been moving. The people you have brought to the show, the shared adventure of conquering another abandoned mine. You made me want to explore with you and meet all the others you have shared along the way. Even that turtle..and the skunks and the cougar tracks. I couldn't wait to see the next intro or Canyon run or atomic outdoor testing. I understand the need to do better do more, but you found most of us from those early episodes, and I can't say I am enjoying this part. Please pull your head out of that donkey hole and watch some old episodes and wait each week after binging the first season to catch up. Then, think of how much of that , that would never be brought to the discovery channel. Or any reality station. They are all the opposite of their titles. There's no history on the history Channel. And there is no success in trying to be something you're not. And you are Gly. A true reality-based show. With success and ambition. Take this one to the assays office and see what pans out. Nothing but love, Tom.

If you are going to produce videos on par with the discovery channel, you need to add: a self professed expert to tell you on camera how you are doing it wrong, and manufacture some drama where you get to say "I have never seen that happen before", and break for commercials every 2 minutes . (yes, sarcasm). You keep doing you! - it is why we are all here. Top drawer all the way. Thanks to Tina again. Should we start calling her "Aunt Tina", since she takes care of us all by making what you do better? ; ) (not sarcasm)
