My suggestions to make this more fair for the gym leaders: - Challengers have to pick 6 pokemons to beat all the gym leaders. They can heal between fights but not swap their roaster of 6.

You know what? Making it purposefully easy did not even cross my mind 😅 I was saying that more as an optional self imposed rule like nuzlocke, not like a thing the event organizers are imposing on people. Imagining the logistical nightmare of trying to vet the picked pokemons of all participants gives me anxiety just thinking about it 😅 Anyways props on the video and giving the spotlight to an event like that, that’s really cool and getting an actual physical badge must feel amazing.

This event kinda reminds me of an event for the main series games in Germany. The "Grugaliga" ("Gruga League" in English) is an event that takes place in the "Grugapark", a big park in Essen, Germany. During the event, many "gyms" (stations with people roleplaying gym leaders - including costumes and everything) can be found inside the park and the participants (the "trainers") walk through that park and try collect at least eight badges (by beating the gym leaders in Pokémon battles) so that they can qualify for the final part of the event (either fighting against the "Elite 4" or playing against other participants in a tournament). Up until 2016 the gyms each focused on one of the 18 types (fire, water grass etc.) and built their teams around the chosen type. Since 2017, the gyms use "themes/ topics" instead of types. For example, you might find a "seasons" - gym, a "means of transport" - gym or a "casino" - gym (there have been many creative gyms, I only mentioned three of them). The event takes place every year (started in 2015) and has become quite popular and big. There are even some spin- off events based on the Grugaliga taking place in other cities. Seeing a video about a somewhat similar event was kinda nice. :-)

​@@toringmort4231perhaps not if he could choose from a larger team than 3. Say he could pick a limited team of maybe 6 to choose from. These were pretty imbalanced. He was actively trying to make it harder during these battles to keep it interesting. For the first few gyms he basically just used the same typing for each gym to try and make it harder instead of using the best strategy.

Awesome. I had an idea like this for our local community. We have a trail that goes through town. Like a route in the main series games. You understand what I'm getting at? At certain intervals people would battle "NPC" trainers. Volunteers for the event who have a collection of themed Pokemon. Think of the bug catcher trainer who would battle you with all bug types.

This is something that is definitely missing , real good fun and rewarding gym battles . They should make it just like the series or games … 6 Pokemon or at least show the opponents 6 then both choose 3 . Also there should be actual gym leaders that might take few tries to take down and have only one try a day to take down . Make it hard .

It seem like Niantic is short of financial aid. Too much payable event maybe potential more money payable event invented by Niantic in near future. For example new Go Wild Events. By comparison, regional tour left far behind than current generation Pokemon had been introduced in Pokemon Go. In the future, do you think Niantic will do regional tours twice in the same year. For example, Kalos Tour and Alola Tour in the same 2026 year? Kalos tour in February 2026 and Alola tour in May 2026? So Niantic can charge on players twice with these events.
