I challenged AI to an EPIC ART BATTLE

Okay, so to some of y’all who said that I didn’t use the AI properly: Fair enough. BUT Lemme clarify What I wanted to do is to test if AI can create stuff BASED OFF GENERIC DESCRIPTIONS and NOT HOW I WANTED IT TO LOOK LIKE. I used “husbando” and “simpable” as a JOKE and since it ignored it anyway, I didn’t bother removing those prompts. I would have tested without it if it were effective. Sure I could make another video where I “use it properly” but if I try to make it look like how I WANT IT to look like, I think it misses the point. The AI wrapped itself around a skull headed monster because for them, that’s what “reaper” means. And if you’re not the one telling them otherwise, IT’LL NOT TRY TO MAKE ANYTHING DIFFERENT. Because that’s how machines work. And that’s how they’re supposed to work. You can’t be like “hey design me a reaper but I want something unique and different about it” if you don’t specify what is exactly that you want. With humans, they’ll pull out anything to make it unique while still looking good, just with some vague descriptions. Yeah I’ve heard of “AI won’t replace artists, a person using AI will” but understand that this is not the point I’m trying to make. AI still needs people and it won’t replace artists by itself. Because it’s not a conscious being. It’s a mere tool that still needs human creativity to make something unique. I know my design ain’t the best, I made it in a day. Studios could take weeks or months (or years sometimes) to properly create a concrete character design that they’ll use for a game/series or whatever. And I know that my expression sheet is very inconsistent because like I said in the video, I made it for funz and also made it on different days. So I didn’t care if it looked inconsistent. You don’t have to bother telling me AI can do better than what I showed in the video. I know it can. I showed in the video some impressive stuff it made. But it CANNOT do it by itself without someone having to adjust it. And yeah sometimes it creates really funny looking stuff and is there a problem in laughing and making a joke about it? It’s not like it’s gonna cry in a corner and give up on their dreams. Anyways. Thank you for listening to my TedTalk (I’m not mad but while rereading it it does sound like it lol)

If I make another video I’ll ask ChatGPT for a more detailed oriented description to use as prompts. I think that’d be boring cuz then my and almost all AI designs will probably look the same. Which I don’t really think it’s interesting. THAT’S WHY I WENT WITH VAGUE DESCRIPTIONS IN THIS VIDEO. Cuz all of the times I asked ChatGPT for a specific reaper design, it always gave me the skull headed, tall and imposing villain. But yeah u can gimme suggestions if you have any ideas

So results might not be the best (though I did admit that dream’s design was pretty decent) I’ve got in contact with 2 people who do have those better engines and if the results are surprising or if it’s interesting enough, I could make another following video or post about it. Yeah u really used all of those super badly plus very small pools of things made, these things sometimes require 20 or so to get closer to what u want, but yeah you can get a lot better then what you got you just have to know how. Then also the downloadable based AI's are even more powerful where u can select areas that did not work and have the AI rework them I would say have a look at people with more considerable knowledge of how to use them and just how solid some of the generated stuff can be, not perfect dont get me wrong but decent for sure.

The other problem with AI generators, is that it doesn't do very well if you want it to add or change something you don't like. Some do, but most of them, you'd be better off using a whole new prompt, or just taking the parts you like into an art program and bashing them into one art piece that you can refine the way you want.

AI won't replace artists. The AI need reference from somewhere and it's been proven that the AI just straight up yoinks other people's art to create the image and the true fatal flaw of it is that it can't make really specific pieces, like a specific character in a specific place. There's just no refence for it to use for something like that. And that's not even mentioning the potential for artists suing if the AI art looks far to similar to theirs be coincidence and besides, the AI needs human art to function anyway no matter how advanced it gets.

Interestingly enough it can, you just have to know how to use the prompts , check out some more higher end AI art videos and the stuff that can be created and how specific you can get is pretty cool, sure its not perfect but you can get pretty close to what u want if u know how

The thing for artists is that sometimes a single hair strand makes a huge difference if placed properly (and u can just feel something’s off if it’s placed weirdly) or a tiny different hand placement which you can only change if you’re working with the piece directly. You still need that experienced artistic eye to notice that stuff. And although I admit AI can create impressive stuff, for me at least it always feels like it lacks something, some originality or personality, as it can only replicate a style or something that has already been done before

AI art has its moments, but its biggest problem is it can't actually create! Without an actual artist doing original art, it has nothing and can produce nothing, also because of that, everything it does produce is like a jigsaw puzzle, but made up of different pieces from different jigsaw sets, which often does produce something funky, though more than often everything looks off and sometimes really bad, eg additional fingers/toes, three knees etc. So until someone can program an AI program that does use other people's art to learn, real artists have nothing to be concerned about AI art!

I mean…that’s valid. I confess I only put “husbando” because I saw that many people put “waifu” to get the desired results, so I thought it could potentially work reversed. I know “waifu” is a term much more used than “husbando” so the latter is less likely to get results, but I just thought I’d be funny anyway. Regardless, don’t take this video too seriously. You can clearly see I didn’t try hard to go after the good results. I pretty much copy pasted chatGPT’s vague description and added “husbando” and “simpable” just for the memes. I know some AI require reference images or detail oriented prompts or stuff to get good results. But yeah. I didn’t wanted to input more of my own prompts because the intention was to see if AI can generate a design based on a vague descriptions given by ChatGPT. I genuinely despise ai generated "art". I've started seen programs for ai generated "music" too and it made me so angry. Creating art is the only thing that makes me happy and it's the only thing I've ever had for myself, unconditionally, ever since I was a child. I've dedicated my life to it, to getting very good at it, and it's brought me so much joy. Wholeheartedly, it was devastating for me to realize that because of this recent push in support for ai art, there is a sizeable number of people who truly see no value in art besides how "pretty" it looks. It truly makes me depressed, because that's a portion of people who are utterly ignorant to the experience of comprehending art, truly taking it in, and understanding what your reaction to the art says about you in regards to what you interpreted the art as meaning vs. what the artist intended it to mean, etc etc. That experience is only possible when art is created by a human and then viewed by another human. Art is a conversation. Humans are social by nature. The absolute disregard of that from these people who love ai so much is the only thing that has ever made me feel suicidal. I'm confident that they are the minority, but their mere existence makes me so deeply sick that I wonder if there's even a point to living if what I live for can be so easily discarded. I'm okay, I'm not suicidal otherwise and I hope that this ai stuff is a trend, but it's still very, very disturbing and depressing.

well, i mean... AI like that sucks. basically what is the best is to give a clear simple prompts like "husbando, red eyes, skulls on clothes" and so on. also putting husbando at the very beginning was the right thing X)) and also... those open AI kinda sucks in general since they were "educated" on many stuff at a time: humans, animals, anime, realistic, photos. like for example Stable diffusion which is your own PC version allows to add different models so if you need anime art, you choose the one which learned only anime and hot guys and no photos or cartoony style. i noticed the same thing once in the video though i don't think there's a lot of options to choose from and also pretty much all of the pieces we see out here weren't generated in one-go. lots of experimenting with prompts, selecting the right piece, developing it... but overall, as an artist myself (yes, i'm drawing. AI is just an interesting thing to learn about and i don't call myself artist bc i can type few words in), AI probably won't replace humans. i mean... now it's a legal issue as well for companies. and they can't keep consistent designs, they can create it once but if we need to integrate it into other illustrations (like promo art eg), AI just can't. it will change proportions, colors, small details... p.s: i'll try to generate that villain later in my Stable Diffusion, just for science XDD

Yeah specially the free versions of these open engines. You can’t have much control of the results cuz it’s quite limited. But either way, you can never get exactly what you want with AI and if you’re not the one giving it some guidance, it’s just not gonna be creative and experiment with the limits of creativity, like real human artists can. Also I noticed that the engines clearly ignored the “husbando” prompt 😂 maybe it didn’t know what to do with it but I found it funny OH and let me know how the villain design turned out!! The thing about Ai art is that its is not protected by copyright law, basically you can just take what the Ai users generated art and monetize it yourself and even claim it as your own.

Although the quality is fine and much better than the ones in my video (except dream. Dream’s looks fire), you can’t help but feel like you’ve seen them before or that it’s a straight up copy. (One of them even has a watermark that was twisted and distorted)

feel like in order to use these AIs and get decent results you kind of need to game it. Read community posts, find what works. You can manipulate the work by going something like "High quality photograph, portrait view, character design sheet: (Subject= Husbando + Subject detail= tall, red eyes, coat, accurate body features, high level body suit, high detailed light refraction , high level texture render, low focus point + (object= scythe + Object detail= razor sharp.)" Some AIs allow you to add weights to certain features too.

@@JyunaYT The Ai's you used are complex enough sure not the most complex but for example OpenArt Ai is pretty powerful and with things like prompts, negative prompts(things u dont want in the generated art), ability to insert images to use as guides for the generated piece to e.g. change the art style of the piece or to tweak it, yes this is very fiddly to use and requires calibration but still its there, ability to choose from different samplers (basically where it pulls the data from) , sizes/ resolutions, the amount of steps u want the ai to take to get to the final product I think there is plenty customization you just need to know how to use it is all, its pretty easy to say eeehh it doesn't work when u barely touched it plus u saw the crazy cool community pieces which are literally what other people generated so if they can u can as well but you ignored them and instead proceeded to slate the tool u did not even know how to use correctly in the first place.
