For me, being pushed by obligation is a very different motivator than being pulled by fascination. Both can be motivating, depending on your personality and how you relate to the project.

I can definitely agree with that. I don’t feel that having painted models for a game is an obligation but more of a personal preference. I am perfectly fine playing with them or playing someone who hasn’t painted them yet but I do have my own bit of pride where I want them at least based coated But it’s definitely a personality thing!
