Advice for new cooks always read the entire recipe through first before attempting cooking. Make sure you have all the correct ingredients. Try not to make substitutions for ingredients. And set timers for everything so you don't get distracted and forget something and it burns.

@@bjtibbs6436 you're actually not supposed to heat it up. I worked for HBH for a few years, the recommended way to serve is let it sit on your counter to reach room temp right before eating. Usually about 30 min, depends on the size of the ham. Heating it is okay but not recommended, since they don't add any water during processing the ham will dry out really quickly when heated.

Forget Kim's cornbread hack...do mine. A box of cornbread and follow the recipe on the box then add and extra egg, 3/4 a cups of shredded cheddar cheese, a drained small can of whole corn, and half a diced red pepper. Mix in to the batter and and bake. Add about 5 minutes for the extra ingredients. Check with a knife to make sure it is finished baking. BTW...yay for you. Glad you are doing this.
