I Cheated On My T5... Now I'm In Love With An AOD

Just got home about an hour ago after a long day. Had to immediately jump in and go for a ride. Yes the x pipe is very unique and sounds very similar to mine. I have a frame of 91 Ranger my dad and I built with the 3 l in it still but a built aod. It'll jerk your neck. Highly interested in the aod shuffle. Man I just want to give you something that nobody can touch and that's props and admiration as well as respect to a man who stays dedicated. Incredibly consistent with his build. I know that I look up to you in ways when I see the go after that you put into it. I just feel that that 5spd 5.0 sound is second to none but that does look like a very cool and fun car to drive nonetheless. Just wanted to try to give you something that taking a drive in that car already gave you. Gigantic props to you brother man

There is nothing wrong with an AOD as long as You take care of it and maintain the fluid level and temperature . Best Wishes Thanks for the update .

I love it, shifts are crisp. I'm using 3.55 gears with a 3200 circle d converter. I also did a jmod on the valve body. I removed the accumulator springs but I may put them back in.

Shift kit in the aod. I had an sn 95 with minor mods and 355. The shift kit was supreme. Would shift so fast. Would bark the tires under full throttle from 1st to 2nd.

Some people think you can’t manually shift the AOD’s that do not have a second gear position but you can. You have to move it back-and-forth between low and back up to drive again and it will hit each gear at your target RPM. The centrifugal governor inside the transmission will not let you go all the way back to first at to high of vehicle speed. At the end of the video he calls it the AOD shuffle.

I did a V8 swap in my Ranger back in 2005, and I used an AOD . I had the trans rebuilt with heavy duty clutches, shift kit, and upgraded OD band and drum from a 4R70W. The trans has worked great, but I kept the stock converter, which locks up in 3rd and 4th gears. I wanted a higher stall converter, but I would of lost the lock up for economy, but after seeing your car without the lock-up I like the way it shifts, especially when going into 3rd gear. I have always hated no stall in third, and I'm sure that difference is nill.

I am most interested in the gear/ converter como. Mine is a cruiser so I was not going to go as high on the gear but watching this it doesn't seem too bad. Thank you. The 4.10 gear with the 2400 lock up converter isn’t too bad. But probably not the best combo for interstate travels.. I would go 3.73 if it saw much freeway use. (Not saying that’s what you’re gonna do just FYI)

Tv cable info? I have an AOD that is not shifting correctly after the bushing disintegrated. Replaced it with the LMR upgrade bit it shifts hard. Can you post a vid on the adjustment you made.

I'm working on trying to get another foxbody..still a 4 eye but 86 so it will be fuel injection..got that right never drive to far after working on your vehicle...just did the breaks on my truck..made it 10 blocks..front driverside break decided to lock up..had to wait 2 hours for break to cool..drove it 10 blocks back home.it locked up again..looks like I might have a dud caliper or something..might have to chase problems.

Get a manual VB with transbrake, 1 piece input shaft 4r70 gear set. Sounds like you have a convertor. The manual VB is the way to go. Mine is a PA.

The so called TV cable adjusts fluid pressure My dumb azz left it disconnected and it burned up the trans. Not shifting has to do with the valve body I feel. Did you install a shift kit? They make a cheap one for it and you can manually shift the trans. The one I used you put it into low and it holds first gear. Shift up to second and it shifts then pull it back to low and it holds second gear. Shift up to second and it goes to third gear them put in drive for forth gear.

My 90 25th..auto Out of all the Fox as I've had they've all been 5 speeds... I ended up getting a 1990 Fox 25th automatic.... She gets up to 120 pretty quick I was shocked.... It has 17" rims 5 lug swap Still stock gears.. Is using no power break.... Start burning out and 1st.. Do the shift shuffle... Back into 1st 1st and it will lock in 2 second and keep burning them up the road and I'm not joking I'm shocked...

I’m getting a 90 LX convertible together for my daughter. And I’m on Witt’s end. Super clean car, but I’ve changed injectors, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel pressure regulator, upper intake gasket.And I still get nothing out of cylinder 1-2-4. Can’t figure it out. HELP!
