Thanks for explaining changing lines. I always find them a bit of a struggle.

changing lines = those brought about by 3 heads or 3 tails...am I right?
@rohanawolf20899 ай бұрын
So, when you get the changing lines, do you read the line info from the primary or the secondary gua? Do you take all the changing lines into account, or specified lines depending on the # of changing lines? If you have 5 or 6 changing lines, do you just read the secondary gua or also read the llines? Would you emphasize (a) ruling/host line(s) or the changing lines, one over the other, or take them all into equal importance?

thank you for the very helpful video! I'm wondering how to handle a hexagram with many changing lines. for example, I now have cast one with four changing lines. some people then only read the unchanging lines, but I don't understand why this would make sense.
@IChingCafe10 ай бұрын
That is a brilliant question. Yes, some say 4 or more lines, there is so much change that you read the line positions that are unchanging in the second hexagram, i.e. not the unchanging lines in the first or situation hexagram. I have found that when it is a time based question, i.e. you can use the 4 or more lines to break up a year into chapters as it were then reading as normal is useful. In other cases the lines in the outcome are valuable. Does that help at all? Take a look at this tutorial episode where there were 5 changing lines to see how it can be done: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqDNZoeidpuHfKs

Thank you for this amazing explanation! I do have a question: when a changing line appears, it generates a second figure - so I end up with figure 1 and 2. When reading the I Ching, what should I read: all the text about the figure 1 and only the changing line of the figure 2? Or should I only read the changing line of figure 1 and the whole text about 2?

Great question, thank you! The most common approach is to read the main text of first figure, the changing lines in the first figure and then the main text of second figure. The second figure evolves from the first so is like an 'outcome' yet I like to see them as two parallel flows of insight that you read together, still understanding that the one transforms into the other. I hope that makes sense? 🙏

Ok, but how do I know whether or not a coin throw is a changing line or not?

If your using coins think in heads and tails .3 heads is changing 3 tails is also a changing line

and what does it mean all changing lines?? I got hex 19 all changing lines, it takes to 33, I asked what should I know is going to happen with a person, I understand that when many lines are changing you have to read the second hexagram as the answer.

That is a great question. When all lines are changing, like you said, you are pretty much living in the outcome hexagram. The change is just too intense. My suggestion is to relook at the question, especially if it involves someone else. Try and reframe it from your own point of view - your relationship to the situation - rather than tapping into someone else's flow and you might find the lines calm down a bit. Good luck!
