I love that you put the soft side of the velcro to the plant, it’s the first time I see this on KZbin but I always do it because the hard side damages my plants and they get brown spots on the stem. Great video keep it up :)

Yeah, I've never completely gotten rid of thrips, but I bottom water everything and look them over when I do, so they are greatly reduced. Recently had '1' Anthurium leaf just explode with thrips, I've never had that before, and the other leaf had none ;) Now I have that plant front and center on my watering table so I can keep an eye on it. I appreciate your clear evidence of thrips damage. I'm switching everything to DIY Pon, I mix some perlite in mine as well. Voice over was great - to the point! I like short vids.

A pleasant video as usual, and I hope she grows well for you! I would feel bad if I didn't mention that I have had very bad(tm) experiences with this type of self-watering pot, so I recommend you keep an eye on it. The problem is that since you cannot take the inner pot out to clean it, the water in the bottom can get stagnant and cause a number of icky issues. If it were me, I'd look for a double-pot setup as soon as you can, and the good thing is that since it's in pon you can repot without too much messing of the roots. Best of luck!
@EverythingPlants
@EverythingPlants 28 күн бұрын
Thank you for this comment...this is exactly my concern as well. I thought about drilling a small hole in the side and then adding a plug which can be removed to drain out the stagnant water. Thanks!

I have many plants in Pon, LECA, or a mix of the two: all my Hoya, all my Alocasia, most of the Aglaonema, all of the Anthurium, my one and only Rhipsalis, all Homalomena, Spathophyllum, and Syngonyum, all the ferns, Peperomia, and spider plants, Ficus Tineke, Monstera adansonii, Philodendron Brasil, Silver Stripe, Birkin, Lemon Lime, all the snake plants and succulents, as well as a lovely "Frankenpot" of Pothos Cebu Blue, Pearls n Jade, and Neon intermixed with Philodendron Lemon Lime, Brasil, and Micans.

So it sounds like you recommend pon haha. The issue here is it's always "not available" on Amazon Canada and it's pricey! Are you in the US? Is it easy to purchase?
@irairod5160
@irairod5160 28 күн бұрын
@@EverythingPlants I am in the USA, indeed, but while availability is likely better than in Canada, it's still hit-or-miss. I buy 2 or 3 bags at a time when it's in stock. I also "cut it" with LECA, which is MUCH cheaper, and more readily available, to stretch it further.
