My Jades get those black dots and corky patches also. I noticed that my Gollum jade is less prone to issues than my regular Jades. Also, just a quick tip i picked up.....I like to bottom water deeply a few days or so before i do my root surgeries. This way the plant is well hydrated and it allows me to let it sit in its new DRY soil for a few days/weeks before the next watering and that gives the roots a chance to heal.....Thanks for another great video!🌵

I always say to do this with caution....I'm comfortable with this and understand my conditions. You definitely don't need to prune and chop the roots like it did

I think the scabby things are scale. That’s what I found on my ficus years ago
@EverythingPlantsАй бұрын
No, this is not scale. It is physical leaf damage or "crusting"....I am guessing that it was caused by pest or fungus?!?!?

Have you noticed any difference in the leaf size that the plant is producing after a serious root prune.
@veronikayupАй бұрын
Hi and ... have you checked the dishwasher/cutlery drawer for the root rake? I know I've forgotten it in the kitchen after washing it before! The plant looks great, and I'd like to tell you that after your advice, my hacked-off jade is growing well too, and the trunks are developing nicely, and getting thicker. I suppose it's time to repot it soon as well! Thank you for a helpful video as always!

Thanks for the video! I learned a lot. One question - the succulent mix you used looks like it’s comprised just of rocks and gravel. Does it contain any “dirt soil”?
@EverythingPlantsАй бұрын
No soil. It's just a mixture of different gritty rocks. This is from the website 'The mix includes Akadama, orchid bark (fir), lava rock, Hyuga, pumice stone, mycorrhizae and beneficial bacteria (Rhizobacteria).'

You have given me the courage to chop my infected jade plant in October but it does not look like yours. Some of them have become shriveled at the top where I chopped it. Should I leave it or cut it down some more? Enjoy your videos!
@peacefulGHILLIEКүн бұрын
I'd let it shrivel back down the stem. The plant will seal off at a node and then in a few months the dried dead bit will break off. Only cut back more if the living tissue becomes infected and keeps spreading. Warmth will help the plant to heal the wound. good luck!

@EverythingPlantsАй бұрын

Use a hack saw or serrated bread knife. Works for me. I always cut my root balls in half.

@EverythingPlantsАй бұрын
@catl4969 nope. You can still trim them back if you want... They will branch out further but it won't die from long branches. Sometimes you might get a branch that breaks due to weight but I've never had that happen with any of mine.

Check the roots! People will always say it's either under or over watering, but a lot to forget to check the roots.... You start losing leaves if it's root bound.
