One of my grandsons accidentally stepped on a bulb and crushed it when he was helping me replant my ZZ. I actually threw it away because I thought it was destroyed. After a few days, I was taking out the trash and saw it was growing. I took it out of the trash and replanted it and now it is a beautifulZZ plant again.

Hi! :) Thank you! Yes, the small plants will grow over time. If you're looking to create a fuller arrangement, you may want to combine a few plants together. Hope your neglected ZZ plant recovers and thrives! Green Luck!

If I cut off an old small stem, would it stimulate a new growth?
@Mycityplants
@Mycityplants Ай бұрын
Hi! Thank you for watching! Yes, cutting off an old stem of your ZZ plant can encourage new growth! ZZ plants are quite resilient, and pruning can stimulate the plant to produce fresh stems. Just be sure to use clean, sharp scissors or pruning shears to make a clean cut. You can also remove any yellow or damaged stems to help the plant focus its energy on healthy growth. Happy pruning! 🌱

I have really enjoyed your video. I have a question, I recently transplant, my ZZ. My leaves were dropping off, the stem was drying up, replanted in new soil, cut off brown roots. Now I noticed some of my leaves are turning yellow. 🤔 Any advice would be helpful. Thank U😚

Hi! Thank you so much for your kind words about the video! It sounds like your ZZ plant is adjusting to the transplant, which can sometimes cause some stress. Yellowing or dropping leaves after a transplant are not uncommon. Here are a few things to check: Watering: Make sure you're not overwatering. Let the soil dry out completely between waterings to avoid root rot. Brown, soft roots are often a sign of overwatering. Pot size: Ensure the pot isn't too big. ZZ plants prefer to be slightly root-bound, and too much space can lead to water retention and root rot. Well-draining soil: Use well-draining soil to prevent water from sitting around the roots. You may want to add perlite or use a cactus or succulent potting mix to help with drainage. Light: Make sure it's in bright, indirect light. Too much direct sunlight can can scorch the leaves and cause stress, and too little light can also cause yellowing. Temperature: ZZ plants prefer temperatures between 60-75°F (15-24°C). Avoid placing it near cold drafts or heaters. Give it a little time-transplants can take a while for the plant to settle in. I hope this helps, and I'm rooting for your ZZ plant's recovery! Let me know how it goes! 🌱

The ZZ is my favorite plant. I need to repot mine the stems are leaning over it’s so big. Any advice since it’s winter?
@Mycityplants
@Mycityplants Ай бұрын
Hi! Thank you for watching! That's great to hear that the ZZ is your favorite plant! While you're waiting for spring, which is a better time for repotting, you can add plant support rings amzn.to/40bxVew or stakes, to elevate and support the leaning stems. Here is my video where I repot root bound ZZ and show how to support stems: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJipoHSbaLSAmdE Alternatively, you could prune back the stems to get your plant in a more compact shape. Green Cheers & May Your Plant Grow Happy and Healthy!

I thought it is the standard procedure to always thoroughly water the substrate right after you repotted any kind of plants? Why it isn't so here in this case?
@Mycityplants
@Mycityplants 9 күн бұрын
Hi! Thank you for watching! When it comes to ZZ plant division, watering right after potting isn’t recommended. The roots get some level of damage during division and need time to heal and form calluses before being exposed to moisture. Watering too soon can increase the risk of rot, so it's best to wait before watering. Green Cheers! 🌿

Hi! Thank you for watching! I understand how frustrating it can be when a plant just doesn’t seem to thrive, especially after giving it multiple tries. Sometimes, plants can be a bit tricky, even for experienced plant owners. I think , it’s worth checking a few factors like watering habits, light, and pot size. ZZ plants do best when the soil dries out completely and is well-draining. ** You may want to try a cactus/succulent potting mix. They also prefer bright, indirect light, and a pot that’s not too large for their roots. Don’t give up on them-sometimes a few small adjustments can make all the difference in your green success!
