just make sure if you do sonic adventure 1 that you install the dreamcast restoration mods (if that's possible, i'm not too familiar with the multiworld randomiser) because while the pc port of sa2 is actually pretty fine, some occasional physics errors aside, the port of the first game is held together by …nothing like it's kinda impressive how bugged it is. straight up fall through the floor levels of bugged.

From what I've been seeing, a lot of the jank being seen in SA2 is the result of the multiple ports that led to the Steam release - with each port, more and more jank was added in the process, leading to the sorry state the collision is in during this Archipelago run. And yes, the mech stages are annoying, but at least the original version had them be more bearable (and you can come close to that original version with mods that restore old functionality) Personally, I'd recommend Sonic X Shadow Generations for a less janky Sonic experience, especially thanks to how much polish the games have. Shadow Generations in particular has been out for a month and it's already one of my favorites in the entire series.

About that with the enemies in SA2, that is something everyone dislikes that if you don’t know where the enemies are ahead of time, they blindside you so often and so easily. Don’t worry Dax, you aren’t the first one to suffer because of that. Still though, great video Dax.

Personally I'd really like to see you play through SA2. As some one who likes 2 or 3 Sonic games, it's my favorite by a long shot, for the same reasons people move watching crappy B movies from the 70s. Getting your first thoughts on the story, cutscenes, and the gameplay when you aren't forced to play 10 eggman/tails levels in a row would be great content.

Having grown up with SA2B I basically never run into bugs, you kinda get used to what inputs to avoid and what the game expects you to do. As a kid I never thought about it but yeah SA2B is jank, I took over 99 lives on the semi-final boss because kid-me didn't understand homing attack precision xD I love playing the game though and I think the wacky voice acting is actually really nice. But the ending will always give me the feels

fun fact, sonic adventure 2’s steam port is so bad that there’s over 20 mods dedicated to fixing all the bugs it accumulated across the 11 years of porting it went through(sa2 steam is a port of sa2 xbox 360, which is a port of sa2 gamecube, which is a mildly botched port of sa2 dreamcast) at least it’s not nearly as bad as sonic adventure *one*’s pc port though, or God forbid sonic heroes’s

30:47 Sonic and Shadow are amazing, Rouge and Knuckles are alright, but the Mech Stages are horrendous. If you're gonna play SA2 standalone, make sure to use SAModLoader to use Sonic's New Tricks, Knuckles' New Tricks, Better Miles, and, Optionally, Amy's New Tricks. These mods let you custom modify your move sets for each character with Better Miles making it where you play as Mechless Tails with Mech Stages having Backups for when you do play Mechless to make levels not impossible. I'd also recommend Better Radar for QoL in Treasure Hunting Stages. The only issue with them is the Radar sucks and Better Radar replaces it with the Adventure 1 radar.

I am used to seeing random SA2 randomizers that already have the items for sake of not getting stuck that.. seeing him be vanilla Sonic in City Escape and there not being random bleeps in cutscenes threw me off.. was hoping for "oh hello.. Infinite in a mech level" Also.. seeing as sometimes some speedrun tricks were needed.. maybe a setting was accidentally turned on? Oh no wait.. auto tracking was probably it lol Being hyped about *Cut* is hilarious to me Wait so.. beating one game just.. gives you all the items it did have somewhere and stops the others from having items for it? Eh.. that feels bit meh to me since.. well.. you got like most of the chaos emeralds all at once instead of having to find them.. which is the point of a randomizer lol I just realized.. the stages in Sonic just.. progress when you complete them right? What happens if you don't grab a check? Is it gone forever or does the game just not progress the stage unless it's truly cleared? Because if they progress and there's an emerald in a stage.. wouldn't that make it impossible?
