Corn needs lots of full hot sun and planting quite a few together helps pollination as they are wind pollinated.

All the other gardeners in your area must be raging with envy! This is so gorgeous and what you have achieved in just two years - amazing. The silk on your sweetcorn can be dried and used to make a healthful tea, in case you are interested in exploring that.

I love it. I know you said it's not a garden or as aesthetically planned anymore but it still looks like a beautifully landscaped garden. I find it really inspiring because your allotment is how I want mine to look one day, it looks like a garden but it is producing mainly food and I love that.

Yes it’s a lot of work and I do fail but I just see it as a learning curve really. I find aslong as things are kept well watered they do well :)

You must have good old Suffolk dark dusty soil where you live there , maybe its years of fire place ashes and chimney soot that makes it hold the moisture well When I lived in Claydon ,,, anything you popped in the ground shot up!!@@PlantPorn

I am from the UK and am just started up on gardening with flowers are veg... Love to know how u thought and did ur trelises.. Seem to have used galvanised arches and tied to wooden stakes? Am I right pls Also would that be sturdy? Would love to learn from where u got the supplies to help me replicate sone of these supports ready for next year.. Thanks a ton in advance

If you plant flowers among your vegetables, you will attract pollinators that can help increase your yield and improve natural pest control as well. Look into which plants do well with which veggies. It’s called “companion planting”. Best of luck next year!

I think you've made a good decision there Ross - you can still grow all your veggies and have a beautiful looking plot! I love the central area and the willow arches! A cut flower bed will blend well with your plan. Watering takes up a lot of your time, I'm sure .... especially as our summers are getting hotter! It's all looking fantastic 😊👍
