I like your video and it helped me change my handle. But I have to disagree with you as to where the metal protective sleeve goes. I you look at the instructions carefully on page 6, it shows you where the sleeve goes. It's there to protect the trim and tilt wire from making contact with the metal portion of the handle.

I have the same control box with a small problem. When i go to full throttle it lock just like it does when you shift to neutral. Any Thoughts before I try taking this thing apart?

Maybe the nylon piece with the square notch/detent in it (that the trigger actuated dog fits into) is cracked or broken and the dog is catching. You could possibly see it without removing the handle, but for sure you'd see when you remove the handle (1 bolt). I'f it was an OMC unit there is another feature inside that could be broken if I recall correctly. Good luck and give an update later.

@@oldhobo5610 Bingo. That is it. Found the the piece on internet bur missing 1 screw. Guess what I can not order. Could not get the screws of the back plate to see if screw is inside.

@@darrellsavoy8417 It's good you found the part. Home Depot and Menards have a limited selection of stainless screws so you might get lucky there. Otherwise you might have to buy a pack of 10 pcs plus shipping online. Or maybe a marine dealer might have some old controllers around to scavenge for parts. Good luck!

I've tried to buy one everywhere with it already on that side here in Australia I haven't sent a console and I use my right hand to go forward and back and neutral it is nearly impossible to get a bloody control on eBay or anywhere to just Google is stupid you can't ask it where to get one or anything I don't know

@@ringerdiggsycobbsy6254 Yeah that pretty much appears to be the case. Disassembly & reassembly might be the only way. Unless you can find a used one with the proper hand.
