I have been producing leather products for 58 years professionally. I avoided Shoe building and repair. That all changed When a cobbler friend of mine gave me his complete shoe store and machinery, as he was having health issues and wanted me to carry on the trade. i’m not a big KZbin fan. I subscribed to your KZbin channel because it is direct and informative and you are true to the Trade. Thank you sir…..Ozarks Leathersmith

My Grandfather had a suitcase manufacturing, & repair company "El Paso Trunk" in downtown El Paso, Texas, his best friend was Tony Lama the boot maker. I spent my summers with my grandfather learning at his shop. He taught me how to make suitcases by hand. We'd have lunch with Tony almost every day. A hotdog and a coke. I watched your video to the end, it brought back great memories. I could smell the leather as you were working! Very awesome result!

Cleanest cobbler "work station", on KZbin. I can appreciate a cobbler with a "clean" work station. Lends credence to quality work. If a cobbler keeps his area organized and clean...then it is safe to assume...he does just as well with his cobbler work.

I have been watching a fair number of boot and shoe resoles/restoration videos from other cobblers, and they are generally quite good. What I appreciate about yours is that you take the time to explain in great detail the reasons for doing such. The camera angles and close-up details clarify your verbal explanation. Your many decades of experience is also quite evident. My neighbor just had a pair of Iron Rangers done by you and he is very pleased.

Some boots with old welts have been ruined because the needle cuts through the welt in-between the original holes which has literally cut through the welt by joining the holes. But a good cobbler gets this right, because like this gentleman they take pride in their work. You will see boots on ebay that have been ruined! I wish I had the gear to do this work. For most of my life my focus was to try to keep a decent sole on my work boots, for all the obvious reasons. I'm older now, still working on the ranch for the day-to-day stuff, but the much harder work, well, I get a hand with that stuff, like fences, veterinary tasks, trailer loading livestock, stacking hay, etc. Seeing this video, I realized, why not have a pair of boots that look good, not just function? This video really got me to thinking. I appreciate that. Oh, the boots in the video? Wow! So nice. Thanks, Tony.
