Seeing the ants under water is amazing, although I do have to wonder if they are actually diving. This may be a new discovery if you can capture them entering and leaving the water. I've always had the idea that the surface tension of the water is difficult for an ant to break. I've always heard that water bubbles on leaves and such can be a death trap to ants if they get sucked in by the surface tension. If the are actually entering the water and leaving it unharmed then this is really exciting. But I have a feeling that while the shrimp is feeding on the roach it is accidentally pulling a few ants under water. Then they surry around under water but can't seem to breaker the surface tension to get out. I thought I saw one leave the water but I wasn't sure even after re watching it. Maybe this is something to keep an eye on. Keep up the great work.

no, they are pretty clearly intentionally diving underwater and know to bring air bubbles with them. you can press on a raft of floating fire ants and submerge them underwater and they will pop back up and be fine. this is well known

I feel like a whole fantasy world could be built with inspiration from the AntsCanada archives of videos. Personify some ants, and maybe a few other critters, and make the world a Hollow Knight-esque world. Make each ant colony it's own kingdom. Have the pesky feral Pharaoh ants be some sort of nomadic invading warriors that come and go. Have the various other critters of the ant room over the years be lesser deities, maybe include a certain feathery friend. Have critters like the Rhino Beetles rarely seen warriors of legend. And then, a mysterious creator of worlds that stands above all, delivering food unto the ants and expanding their world when it becomes too small. Even mysterious myths of an entire council of other creators that advise The Creator of Worlds, just as numerous as their own colony but unimaginably larger in size and scale. There's certainly been enough drama over the years to craft legends from. Multiple plagues of mites that required divine intervention from the Creator. Ignore the other dude responding to you. Ants are always looking for a better place to live, especially because any setup will always have limits, compared to being outside where they aren't trapped in a box. Anyways to answer your question although I am not AC, but I've been watching him for a long time and if I remember correctly his old Fire and Colony (The Fire Nation) escaped one (I think he was on a trip?) but that was an easy fix. He has had plenty of ant colonies "disappear" where he has hypothesized they either died or escaped. The one one remember though were his Ghost Ants (can't actually remember the name) which were a species known for their great escapes. I'm sure there are others but he's had so many colonies over the years that I find it hard to remember. Hope this helps :))

I love this channel. I had an ant farm as a kid, and also loved having a vivarium in my room (mom was not as enthusiastic, however). Now that I'm married, my apartment doesn't allow pets, and being in Louisiana, I'm sure a colony of fire ants would NOT be a welcome tenant. Try adding springtales to your enclosures they are great helpers Here's a list of what they do 1-they eat mold 2-they will clean up after the ants 3-they are so small they can walk on water 4-the ants will not eat them as they can co-exsist with almost any ant species 5-they keep the ecosystem healthy
