I've ate a lot of wild animals gator, croc, bullfrogs, soft shell turtle, deer, rattlesnake, squirrel, guinea pig, crawdads, and etc.....but never ate bear.

I always got the sense when I lived in Florida that the FWC just did not want the political fight that would come from bear hunting. There is no way the population is only 4200 or whatever they claim it is. Bears are seen in so many areas they never were before, and bear/human conflicts are way up this past decade.

They should leave politics out of it and make decisions based on the science and biology. Whats healthy for the bear population and humans? Black bears arent a threatened species, but they act like Florida black bears are special because they live on this side of the imaginary line.

@ItsAWildLife1 I seem to recall the last time they had the hunt they panicked when so many were killed in such a short period of time. Well, instead of maybe reassseing their numbers, they decided that Florida bear hunters were magically some of the best bear hunters around despite not having a hunt for many decades prior. I am in Virginia now, and it is not controversial at all up here. DNR was begging via email for hunters to buy bear tags stating the population was way too high. 90% of bear hunting up here is with hounds since it's a no bait state.

Congrats! Awesome hunt after y'all got out of that swamp. Getting in deep like that kinda takes the fun out of it. I've never had the chance to bear hunt, but I've had to get into some thick swampy areas like that to get to the dogs when hog hunting, and it's a job and a half getting in there, and even worse dragging one out. lol.

As some who isn’t particularly affected by this shit but as a Canadian person and the fact I have bears live right under my house this video kinda makes me sad ngl and the fact the some guys where being rude like “ smoked him” “that’s a great cub right their” like the fact that it was actually a juvenile as well like I am not usually affected by this shit right here but it kinda sucks like people don’t usually eat bear meat as well but it is life so can’t do much 🤷

267 pounds is not a Cub that is a 3 or 4 year old bear at least. It is no longer a cub once it leaves its mother and male bears are usually 75 to 100 pounds and a year and a half old when they leave their mother.

In Pennsylvania we don’t use dogs to hunt bears, you might as well use dogs to hunt deer, pigs,coyotes
