I run an indie vinyl label for electronic music for 13 years now and I can tell you: It's mostly luck. Of course you need a dedicated artist, persistance and constant work: Putting out music, playing shows, growing your network, meeting people, collaborate with others, etc etc .... but landing a hit is luck. Jack, I would love to work with you on music one of these days. I just need the platform for people to hear me. I create my own instrumentals and I sing/rap. I have so many songs already but I’ve never been noticed. I traveled from the UK to the states and was homeless from 13 years old to 17. I ran away because the home life was not good and dangerous. I played guitar on Venice beach from 8am to 7pm everyday. I even had a sign up that said “practicing for talent show” which was a lie he I didn’t want anyone to call the police because I was a homeless teen. I ended up finding a homeless shelter and had more time to write. Instead of staying there and sleeping all day, I was too excited to keep singing on that beach. I loved it when people stopped and watched me. I always wanted to become a huge singer songwriter one day. I hope you give me a chance to prove myself. My music is on this profile that I’m typing from. I’m 21 now and I’m doing my best to be the best version of me.
