Needs back EMF sensing to improve stability so it can apply torque when it dives. When you back off the motor and your weight shifts forward, the motor will generate voltage (instead of consume it), this can be sensed and motor torque applied to counter it.

One GIANT mistake in this project. You failed to wear a respirator when spraying aerosolized paint. I made the very same mistake when working with paint and chemicals over 20 years in the aircraft industry and lost my sense of smell as a result. Word to the wise: DO NOT SPRAY PAINT OR WORK AROUND/WITH VOLATILE CHEMICALS WITHOUT WEARING A PROPER RESPIRATOR! Please take heed from my mistake. Best wishes to all!

This by far the best monowheel built I've seen since 2000s, but there's a catch: whole idea of throttling in monowheels are anticipated wrong, it should start throttling depending on your lean angle (aka gyroscopic throttling), and so with the brakes. To cover the hassle of coding arduino (which isn't that hard) you can still use a unicycle and attach it to inside of monowheel. Smaller tire will practically give you lower CoM, which is why electric monowheels are way better than gasoline ones. back-up system as hand-lever would still prove useful, one system that includes both gyroscopic throttle/brake and hand lever throttle/brake, in a non-swingy, safe way possible.
@XavierBetoN16 күн бұрын
sitting position might use a rethink, to introduce gyroscopic throttling/braking maybe not the lowest but the closest to center of rotation is better as center of mass, would require giving a thought.

Pretty cool! I consider this more of a prototype/proof of concept. I know it would defeat the purpose of being an Omni-Wheel, but having a smaller wheel in the back to act like a "Wheelie Bar" would keep the Omni Wheel from rotating backwards and prove to be a more stable ride for the operator.

Kerry McLean would be proud of ya! [He's the inventor/builder of the McLean Monocycle] I've seen so many styles of these over the decades, and they just keep getting cooler.. Kerry went w/ Huge combustion engines, so had to incorporate a tail rudder/wing combo for added stabilization.. NOW, we can just jam 'self balancing' PCBs to the mix, and that would nix the for/aft tilt [just think of a Huge EUC (E Unicycle) ] I saw that people beat me to the South Park joke.. But gotta' do it anyway: Your Seat looks a whole lot more comfortable! 🤣

I love the monowheel. Maybe you could make a "floating" internal frame for the handbar, battery and seat while the motor keeps in the "fixed" frame. I think that if you do that your body will stay in the same place when you accelerate or brake. Maybe I'm wrong, but it's something I can't keep out of my mind.

Fun concept at least. Finding a way to stabilize the driver from tilting back or forwards would be needed. Seems like the height of the seat might need some working on as well, which means the wheel would have to be slightly larger prolly to compensate. Shocks for the seat wouldn't hurt. Don't know what to do about the feet honestly, I would say a peddles upfront like a chopper motorcycle, but honestly they gave you way better control over the vehicle so I guess maybe a pair of shoes designed for it, or even like, motorcycle racers knee pads with peddles in the rear for your feet. Not like ya can put a gyroscope or anything on there though.

Add a motor mounted to a large flywheel along the inside of the main wheel and some accelerometers and/or gyroscopes. A little algorithmic tweaking, this can be used to oppose and negate the "rocking" of the rider, keeping him upright upon braking or acceleration similar to a hoverboard or segway. (Yes, it's far easier for me to type than it is to implement, but the concept is solid.)
