Didn't you make a tie-die at school with the rubber bands mate? They use Indigo to get the blue colour. Reckon Lucille has got a polishing cloth now🤣

I never did at school, sounds like I was the only one that didn't 🤣. That's a good idea for the cloth mate.

Wow..I would love to go to this place! Yours came out nice! I LOVE tiedye! So does my husband😂 as it is my hobby at home in Sweden, I do them with ice or fluid! We sell at markets sometimes at home. My husband packed all his T with tiedye. So if you see a man in his best years...70😅 in not blue but other colours walking about in Chiang Mai now, it is him/my tiedye👍 Thank you again for showing it.👏🏻👕👚🎨

Wow that's great! This was the first time I tried making one. I must admit, I do like how it came out, I will keep it for sure. I will keep an eye out for a man in blue tie dye in Chiang Mai 🤣. Thank you

Wow! I am total tie-dye fanatic! I literally wore tie-dye as my UNIFORM when I was in Thailand. Kept it simple, but one in six different colors. Came back and did the same with several t-shirts myself. Cool!

The Tie-Die place was a fun and affordable tourist destination. Perhaps from the point of view of someone yourself who lives there it's all a bit of a re-hash, but for us who've been away a long time it's fun to watch and reminisce about better times and places and enjoy you suffering through it. And for those who've not yet been it's fun as well. I'm with you on the Farang gouging. However, knowing something about Thais, and from what I recall, most take pride in their country and sharing it with visitors, and I give a lot of the not so perfect tourist locales a an ok, as that a lot of places may not be getting rich or even breaking even and giving it their best. And that's more than I can say for a lot of places, like my city; until a few years ago was one of the most 'visitable' cities in the U.S., now known as one of America's most unfriendly, depressed, dangerous and top places to stay away from, and by comparison, I give Thailand two big thumbs-up and you Wayne two big thumbs-up for showing us that.

Some great points in your comment Jack. You're right about it's fun for other people that are not in Thailand. Sometimes I have to think to myself that not everyone is in my shoes here. Thanks mate.

I look at the double pricing as a discount for locals, not as a tax on farangs. And, farangs carrying various forms of Thai ID are usually given the discounted price. Discounts for residents/locals are not at all uncommon at tourist attractions here in the US, and I've seen the same sort of thing in other Western countries. Nice T-shirt, mate - if you do not want to wear it yourself, you can always give it to your next gf! :)
@WalkAboutWayne8 күн бұрын
Driving license didn't work here mate, I tried it 🤣. Some places it works, some it don't. I dont agree with any dual pricing, in any country. (mine included) Not sure what I'll do with the T shirt mate, I've still got it up till now 🤣.
@michaeltakayama84157 күн бұрын
@@WalkAboutWayne Yeah, a DL is going to be hit-or-miss, since, in Thailand, it is not a form of resident ID. You would have better luck with a student ID, or taxpayer ID. Keep in mind that the reason for dual pricing at tourist venues is different than the reason for dual pricing at shops. Many/most tourist venues (public & private) operate at best break-even - more often at a loss - during off-peak seasons. Dual pricing is used to encourage locals to visit, esp. during periods when tourist numbers are low. This helps the operaors to keep the venue open, cover the ongoing maintenance costs, and, most importantly, continue to employ their permanent staff. It is about economics, not a skin tax. There is also a fair argument that public venues, run by the government, are funded in part by taxpayers, who therefore deserve a discount vs. visitors who do not pay taxes. With regards to private shops & services, however, most of that dual pricing is indeed price-gouging, based upon a perceived difference in what foreigners can afford to pay. I have mixed feelings about this sort of dual pricing, because a lot of luxury & brand-name goods - often made in the same factories as generic goods - are sold under the same premise of charging more for the same item, just because someone with deeper pockets is willing to pay the extra price. Ah, well, the world is what it is. We just gotta live in it, right? :) I do like the shirt, but I also would not likely wear it in public. Maybe hang it on the wall?

Good one Wayne. Cheers buddy. Yes I remember those T-Shirts back in the day. Actually made one myself. Cheers re going to the canyon and probably worth the effort and not expensive but yes I totally agree that there should not be a tiered charging system, also one of my pet hates, free for Thai and charge for farang PLUS one for Lucille - WTF!! . In that last part of the museum they didn't even provide an explanation of each item in English, just Thai. If they are going to charge Farang then they need to get that right and provide an English translation at least. A bit rude I reckon. Really good video buddy. Cheers 🍻🤩

The dual pricing is just to let you know that you'll never be a Thai citizen, "non immigrant". It's the downside of Thailand, visas and not being able to get citizenship (very very hard).
@WalkAboutWayne7 күн бұрын
Yeah, I think there's other ways they could get money from the dual pricing. This way just seems from the dark ages. I'd rather pay a bigger fee to enter Thailand than the feeling of dual pricing.
