Hey man I have played violin and guitar since I was a child but am just starting a drumming journey, and starting all over again (having developed advanced skills at other instruments and starting from square one on a new one) can be really intimidating especially because you know you have to go through that whole process all over again. I just discovered your channel and it's really been helping me as my biggest struggle has been laying out the best structured practice for myself and feeling like I don't know where to start or what direction to take in practicing to be the most effective and beneficial. Your videos clearly and concisely lay out really effective structured practice and you're really good at guiding and breaking down different techniques, ideas, and lessons, and your videos really have been everything I've been looking for to feel more comfortable embarking on this new journey with a new instrument. The hardest thing about being a beginner drummer isn't actually finding a good practice plan (even though this one is basically perfect, huge kudos) it's STICKING TO IT. Tons of people don't recognize how disruptive it can be to the rest of their lives just shoving a previously-unaccounted-for hour into most people's already busy days. Having decided in advance, yes, that's the plan, I have that free time to spend on this, I'm enjoying the (incomprehensibly slow) process - absolutely changes everything.

Most people waste hours a day staring at their phone. The real issue isn't time it's that learning an instrument is work and people figure out quick they got into it for fun not for work.

​@@Badministrator A lot of people who are new to an instrument don't realize that in order to have the fun they want to have (because truthfully, the better you get the more fun it is to play because you have less limitations) takes a BUTT TON of work. Truth is, we SHOULD be getting into music to have fun because if we're not we're in it for the wrong reasons. BUT to get good enough to truly open up and have the most fun possible, does involve months and years worth of honing skills. Most people see already skilled musicians having a blast playing and don't realize until they start to learn, just how much time it took for those musicians to be able to do what they do. That being said, music still absolutely needs to be fun otherwise there is NO point in doing it. But the discipline still needs to be there and people don't realize ON TOP of just jamming out having fun you need a lot of time spent doing the "boring" stuff to get better at the fun stuff.

probably! Going back to the basics is always a good idea. I work on my singles at moderate/slow tempos all the time to this day. But without seeing your playing, it’s difficult to give specific advice on what areas you might want to dive into to fix :)
