I can't really crochet really well but do U think I could possibly do the base part with knitting?

Oh that’s totally fine. And yes you most certainly can! The base structure of the hooded scarf is 2 rectangles put together. So if you knit the rectangles separately and then sew them together, you can definitely do it that way. Let me know how that goes! Good luck! 👍🏾 🍀
