Our first Celebrity cruise was a great success in our book, even on one of their older ships.I know that many of you are sailing Celebrity Summit right now in Alaska. This smaller ship will serve you well. Be sure to check out the made to order items in the buffet. Yum!🍳🥗

I've sailed on three Millenium class ships, and I love them! They have a great dance floor, (the Rendezvous Lounge) that almost no new ships have. So, if you're a dancing couple like we are, you're out of luck. That was a very good tip re: the Passport Card. We just renewed our passports, and they have a warning about airline travel and passports cards that was not on the old passport. I'm sure a lot of people with old passports had the same expensive lesson. I liked your video, very concise! Celebrity tried to sell the chocolate chip cookies at $2.00 a piece a while back. That lasted about two minutes. Again, great video!

HAL has dance floors as well as Cunard. Royal Caribbean has them in the Bolero lounge and I think Schooners. And I agree with you. While others talk about balconies and food and such, my thing with ships are the lounges, the dancing, the kind of romance of those spaces. The Century class were even better in terms of having nice lounges with dance floors. The Edge class really has no nice lounges. Such a shame.

@@benjaminsmith2287 You're right! My favorite Celebrity ship was the Century! The Solstice Class ships did away almost entirely with a dance floor, just a postage stamp sized one in the reception area. I guess the younger crowd doesn't like to dance. I have to say that Princess has a nice area in the Fusion room, but never uses it. I guess they don't want to pay a band!

@@cruisingwithkristie The Edge ships don't have a Sky Lounge. Seriously. That area is used for suite passenger's only. Solstice ships Sky Lounges are somewhat larger except the Reflection, that has a truncated one. The Edge ships put the activities in the "Grand plaza" (modified foyer), Club (a 2 deck nightclub) and Eden, a tiered garden-theme aft area. The Club has slick tech screens in it including the floor so a lot of games can be done there. But it's kind of dark and enclosed feeling.

The Galaxy was their best ship IMO. I loved it. I loved the foyer with the girl on the swing over 4 decks. The Rendezvous lounge had confetti like carpeting and a nice dance floor and that carpet extended into the dining room. It had this secondary foyer where you could have drinks and chill before dinner. The Stratosphere lounge was fantastic with its two levels and gigantic windows. It made for a great disco at night as well. The ship felt light and bright but rich and fun. And the Savoy Lounge in the back was super ritzy and had great dancing of all styles, Latin, R&B, ballroom, swing, it just had a nice vibe to it. The Solarium pool was peaceful. I also remember the dining room vibrated at times. It did in the Century as well. I thought the Millie ships weren't quite as nice as the Century ships but I like the Solstice ships. the Edge ships, OTOH, I don't care for. But others seem to love them.

I’ve also thought about what would happen if someone else took your cruise cards from your door before you. My guess is that after notifying your room attendant of the missing cards, they would recode and reprint new cards so the old ones become invalid.

Been on the Celebrity Summit several times. Same with the Constellation. They are Millennium Class ships, and those I like. Been on the Celebrity Silhouette Class in it's inaugural season. It left a lot to be desired. Celebrity isn't as good today as it used to be when the Chandris family owned it. Celebrity Cruise Line makes their own Celebrity Salad Dressing. Cafe al Bacio was a favorite place for us. The serving of food by staff is better than the chaos that a free for all self serving is. Not a fan of silent disco. The theater was nice. Saw the only living member of The Lettermen that was still alive. He recounted being on The Jack Benny Program. The Millennium Class trips to Canada and Bermuda were really good.

@@benjaminsmith2287 When we were on the Celebrity Silhouette even though we booked it more than one year in advance they got our dining reservations screwed up both for the MDR and the Specialty Dining Rooms. They moved entertainment to the lobby instead of having it in the theater or a lounge. They made these nice areas on the ship with coffee/tea stations a place to sit and read, play board games. How can you? They were doing entertainment in the lobby and the sound drifted up. I wanted to go read a book in the library. The library was not an enclosed place. When the entertainment started in the lobby you couldn't concentrate on reading. One day we called Room Service and made an order for food to be delivered to the stateroom. They called back it could not be delivered on time. We cancelled the order. I went to get my wife and I something to eat. Just as we are going to the MDR for dinner a knock comes at the door. Room service. I had to ask, "what part of cancel the order don't you understand?" She couldn't even understand that. One of the specialty restaurants was good. The other was very poor.

@benjaminsmith2287 Ай бұрын
@@harlanabraham7772 Thanks. That's a shame. I really dislike using the foyer for loud music and it does disturb the spaces above. Worse thing is the Edge is designed to do that. Silhoutte has the Sky lounge for this purpose and if Michael's wasn't used as the Retreat lounge and was an entertainment lounge, you could have music in it as well (though it might compete with whatever music is in the Ensemble lounge. The design flaw in this ship is it doesn't have a lounge with a second dance floor. the Zenith class and Century class did and people continue to think newer is better and it isn't in every aspect. Overall, the Solstice class, when the service and crew staff is delivering up to par, are nice enough ships and fit the Celebrity style.

Folks, this is not a "small" ship. It's 90,000 tons. Back when it was made it was considered a "mega-ship." It's smaller than the ridiculous norm of sizes of ships today, but it is by no means small. Is it old? Well, I don't know. I'm old-ish. I remember this ship when it was brand new (and it was much different). It's a fairly modern ship that has been in service for years, but I don't consider it to be old. Old, to me, were vintage ships like the QE2 when it was sailing or the Norway or the at time Premier ships that didn't have verandas. This ship has verandas. Old, to me are ships that had portholes. Yeah, I guess where some could consider it old since there are so many new ships out. Too many, IMO. With the changes that have been made, it's fine. It has an observation lounge and a nice lounge with the dance floor (Rendezvous). Something totally lacking in the Edge class ships. It has tons of overpriced shops. It has a spa area most should avoid. It has a solarium pool. It has a decent pool space. It has a good two deck forward theater. It has most of the specialty restaurants that Solstice has and even Edge. It's fine. The staterooms were refurbished and modernized so, unless you need new that show minimal wear, it's fine. In fact, I'll take a Millennium or Solstice class Celebrity ship over an Edge ship any day.
