You must be the most multi-talented person on KZbin. Je... sorry I mean Lucy Lui's hair looked lovely before the cut and it looks fantastic now. As long as "Lucy' loves her new hair do, that's all that matters. Well done.

Thank you Champagne Twist! She does like it. It's been quite hot here as of late and her long hair was driving her crazy!

Saw your opening and I cringed the way you took the big shears and just chopped her beautiful hair. I understand she wanted a lot off, but seemed rough. I have been cutting my wife's hair for years and have a couple suggestions. One get a cape, it is easier to comb out the long hair as the comb doesn't get caught on clothing, it also keeps itchy loose hair off shoulders and neck. Second use hair clips and a rat tail comb, I have found that by sectioning and pinning up my wife's hair and letting down in 1/2" increments, it is easier to trim, rather than saw through the bulk. I also set out a glass of wine for her before I start. It is relaxing one on one time. And yes, we save hundreds a year by me being her stylist and trimming her locks every 6-8 weeks rather than her going to the salon. My wife gets compliments and now I do a couple of her friends' haircuts as they just happen to stop by to visit when I am doing my wife's hair. I mentioned I would show their husbands how to cut their hair for them, but they don't trust their guys with shears. Too bad. I think every guy should step up and be his wife's stylist. Kudos to you. :)

Oh no Brenda! Take ten deep breaths. Be within 4 feet of the fainting chair/couch. Go to Sewing Report. Binge watch the long hair.... Might work. Idk. It's worth a shot. : )Those "Heavy Duty" shears were Gingher scissors... They were not made for dry cutting thick hair. They didn't do that great of a job on the initial cut so I ended up having to take off another inch just to make sure it blended alright. Thanks for the kudos! Next time.... I'll leave more hairs attached. : )

Hehe - glad you stayed conscious Brenda!!! I love the look of long hair, but the day-to-day reality is not nearly as much fun.

I love this!! It looks so nice!! I started by bleaching/dying my own hair bc I have long thick hair and I was not willing to pay $200 to dye the tips of my hair. Then I figured if I could dye it, I should be able to cut it. Best money saving decision ever, plus honestly it's kinda fun haha.

My wife has really thick hair as well and for her to have it cut at a salon, decently, it costs quite a bit of money. After you work in the expected tip... it's going to be in the mid $100's at a minimum. Doing things yourself is definitely the way to go if you're motivated and if you have a good mirror, or in my case when I cut my own hair, I use painters tape and a camera phone to make sure the back is even. lol. It's quite effective and leaves your money in the bank. We're glad you liked this and happy to hear other people are on board with the DIY mentality! Thank you for watching and sharing your story Manuela Ariza!

Painters tape is such a good idea haha. I just put my hair in a ponytail at the front of my scalp and cut about 2-3inches. I've been doing it for a while now so I'm used to how much I need to cut and where to place the ponytail to get it how I want it to be. Thank you and your wife for making great content!

That's a good idea. You should definitely make a film showing how to do that! You're most welcome! We're really happy that you enjoyed it! Thank you again!

I wish I could trust my husband to do this but... no. I do, however, save money by cutting everyone else's hair in my house. All three of my human guys plus one hairy little dog. I feel like I have improved my skill over time. My youngest has really put my skills to the test. He's just over a year old and has had a full head of hair since birth. He's probably had 6-8 haircuts so far.

It's really okay - I'm actually good with the haircut! My hair is so heavy and thick, it's felt cumbersome for quite a while. He also removed some bulk from the middle so hopefully that will help with the weight.

My hair is super fine a well... Her hair grows pretty quick so it should be back to fighting length in no time at all. Thank you. I watched a number of tutorials before I cut her hair the first time. This was the 3rd iteration over the past 2 years. It only took 15-20 minutes this time around. The first time was probably closer to 45 minutes or an 1 hour.

jmarylastone try to cut the ends every 3 months if is damage only... dont use conditioner. Brush your hair before showering for the natural oils spread and untangle it. Use Aloe vera gel to mske it stronger. I have being using it strait from the aloe leave as hair gel to keep all the new hair growing. My hair still thin but much stronger and shinny.

It was my decision - if you've ever had long hair - it gets very uncomfortable and heavy! While it does look nice, it's bulky to the point where I was ready to tear it all out. Feels so much better now!
