Hi Carla, greetings from Australia. I have just finished binge watching your videos of your ride to Patagonia. I thoroughly enjoyed them. You are an amazing young woman. We know there are a lot of people out there doing this. My big ride was in 2019 from Germany to Kazakhstan and back via the Pamir highway. I was 70 then and after several medical set backs I know I won't be doing anymore big rides. Anyway I just want to tell you that rarely we see such an honest account of such an incredible journey. You deserve full credit for showing your true emotions without sensationlising anything. I can very much relate to the things you where feeling every day. I wish you the very best for the future. You are young and will have many more incredible adventures in your life. All the best Karl❤❤❤

Hola carla! 💕 Felicidades!

Thanks for giving me the phrase I've been looking for to put under a tattoo I've been designing of a bike on a hill, I wanted to put a phrase that represents how a hill will pass even though the climbing will be quite hard (I struggle with hills on the bike, Haven't deal with hard winds hehe but I look forward to, is part of the biking life). Anyway, thanks! And thanks for sharing!

Before you go on another epic adventure that follows a "straight line across a continent", why not get lost exploring the remote places of your beautiful country by bike, taking time to know more about the people in the small villages, visiting nature parks, etc...? You could do that on weekend or weekly trips, returning home to family and friends more frequently. And doing your amazing videos about it. And the triathlon challenge also seems like a great goal. Every other weekend I hop on a train with my bike from Lisbon and go to the mountains to cleanse "myself" from the city life. Even on my bike rides to and from work I challenge my body and mind to go fast and fun, like "Time Trial" mode... and if it's raining I embrace the opportunity to get out of the comfort zone, like you do on holidays 😉 If you wanna ride together for a few days to a week or two, either in Portugal or Spain, I am game. I love to share this blissful moments of riding through beautiful landscapes and exploring new places and not knowing whats around the corner. Anyway, great roundup of your tour, great life lessons! Stay happy and keep enjoying your life 🙌

Good hear from you. You have learned a lot and you are right, life does have a way of working out, almost never the way you expected, but it does work out. I'm not the one to talk about work and career, simply because I never cared too much about it. I was always look out for something interesting to do rather than anything else but it did work out, kinda, in the end. So good luck with the job search and do let us know how it goes. Take care.

I used to care so so much about it, linking what I did for work to my self worth.. and although I still catch myself thinking that, I have realized how stupid that idea is. Your way of seeing is exactly how I would like to see it as well 🫶🏽 thanks for sharing!

It’s difficult to just “STOP” the movement. After I completed my first few tours I started to really understand why I needed to keep that routine in my life with breaks in between for rest. My body was telling me that the movement was a healing source. My mind was attuned to the daily meditation when riding. It was how we were meant to live. I would return to the work routine and the path that society likes us to follow but something was very wrong with this. I felt drained by the old ways. I was a mountain guide in Alaska but I left that for a life of biking the mountains and deserts of the world. You did an amazing trip and don’t get discouraged with the rat race. Just know you can always load up and go to do what most just dream 🙏🏼🌈😊🌲

I couldn’t agree more!!! I am trying to include as much as I can from my cycling life inti my “normal” life, seeing how happy those things-like exercise and being surrounded by nature- made me! Thanks a lot!!

Thats fantastic Carla! So glad that you are happy with everything. With such a long build up to your adventure and then completing it, I was thinking that you might hit a wall of depression. Thats what typically happens in that kind of situation. Triathlon sounds perfect! Thanks so much for the update and stay positive!

Thanks, very interesting video. It is good to zoom out, and reflect on what you have just done. I think your exprerience will always be something you can look back to with happiness. It would be interesting to see if in 10 or 20 years and you look back at this video, if things actually worked out the way you think now. But your words about the happiness this trip has "installed" in you, that nothing will ever take that away, that really resonated with me. I think it is true. Also, I think it is very good to take up a new challenge (triathlon), it is always cool to learn new things, and get good at something you never done before. You will be fine, take car, cheers.

Carla, you are such an inspiration for your generation in many ways. You are way beyond your years when it comes to self analysis and observations you are able to communicate so thoughtfully. Congratulations on all your achievements so far. Cheers from Jardín Colombia 🇨🇴 on my return to Cartagena via Ushuaia on a motorbike. I have the knowledge of how extremely difficult your journey was.

I don’t know what kind of job you’re looking for but here is something interesting. Of the women that make it to the C suite, the vast majority of them are former athletes. I would say that what you learned on your adventure is similar to what those women learned through sport: discipline, drive, organization… the skills you learned can take you further than the people that used that time to build their resumes you speak of. You will catch up and surpass them in no time.
