@@carlagoessouth Haha, that was very clever of you, these arcade games were extremely popular long before you were born! That intro and outro took me back to my happy childhood, it cheered me up SO SO MUCH 😀 thank you very much 👌 I would recommend cycling through a desert once for the experience but yes, nothing beats cycling through, or over, mountains for me! Great videos Carla, you are a natural presenter and storyteller 🚵♂️👍

Thanks for sharing. The reality is that everyone gets scared some time, it is a self preservation thing, but it is how you deal with it that makes the difference, thanks for sharing your process. In the military the people I feared the most where those that showed no fear - they are truly dangerous people to themselves and those that depend upon them.
@carlagoessouth Жыл бұрын
You're so right! I hadn't thought about it that way. We usually think of fear as a weakness but it's definitely not! (it does feel bad when it's happening though, but not having would definitely be worse!) Thanks for the food for thought and, as always, for the support!

You did not mention how you got out of the pig situation? 😂. Wishing you a safe and happy road. Somehow I found I had unsubscribed, accidentally, but I am back on for the next adventures and the lovely images. Safe and happy road!

Another fantastic video! Love to gear how you deal with fear and with motivating yourself on the bike. The "just a tiny bit further" is very useful. Dont know if you follow Emily Chappell, but in a recent newsletter she shared her mind tactics in ultra races and many people also replied with theirs and it makes me just love humans. Also with fear i always like to remind myseld that it takes at least an hour for adrenaline levels to go down once theyre up

Having traveled now from Vancouver to Columbia, what do you think of your Surley? The climbs you're encountering will you prep you for Patagonia. How you chose to handlle your fear is brilliant and is a legitimate way to chill the brain out. The beautiful desert section is similar to Northern Arizona...interesting.
@carlagoessouth Жыл бұрын
I loveeee my bike (the bond Ive created with it after almost 8 months is insane). Howevey, if I had known what I know now when I bought it, I would’ve chosen something a bit more focused on dirt/mountain bike (as these are the routes I take the most). I’d like having wider and larger tires (mine are 26x2,1). I haven’t been to Arizona but from the photos Ive seen, this looked like a mini version of those deserts, super cool!!

Just so you know, having food, or even just food odor in your tent is a great way to invite animals to come to your tent. This can be very dangerous in places where large predators live. Everywhere else there are rodents and such that will chew holes in your tent trying to get food. It’s always best to keep food in a bear hang, ursak, or bear proof canister. Of course when you are being eaten alive by flies it gets very difficult to take these precautions. I always carry a small tube of Picardin, and a bug net for my head. Happy travels!
@carlagoessouth Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip! I did that in certain parts where wildlife was a concern, of course!
