Women were so much more beautiful back in these days! I'm 35 and I wish I had a chance to thrive during the 1940s.

Great Scott, those wonderful sonorities by the band (Kay Kyser's, by the way)! That terrific soprano sax underpinned by the bass clarinet, the in-hat playing by the brass, giving them that burnished sound, the delicate guitar and celesta, you won't find that in dance music nowadays. Oh, and Ginny is marvelous too, of course.

This is also one of those cases where the session recorded in the film actually came out better than the 78 single. The Columbia pressing for this tune is OK, but the in-context film segment is far more effusive.

Manfredi-- Im videotaping my show so watch for me on you tube soon !! Karen
@karenegert82229 жыл бұрын
Hi Manfredi-- actually another singer Irene Kral also covered it( not Diana Krall) Irene is a great singer I have to add another Mercer song to my show ( last minute) that Sinatra sang and out of the 1800 songs that Mercer wrote I was limited to about 25 Mercer songs that Sinatra recorded this one is nice but Irene Kral does it as a real uptempo which is very interesting .Ill do it like that in the show --a little uptempo

+Karen Egert I was unaware of Kral's song, I'll sure check it out, thanks for the tip, I look forward to seeing your recital on KZbin, I just love jazz standards!

@IlMagnolo9 жыл бұрын
+Karen Egert Hi there! I guess Ginny is the only woman who sung it, Sinatra and other male crooners performed it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZLbfKWjgK6YhaM
