I'm so glad Buddy got this honor. Beth Hart nailed this song for Buddy with Jeff Beck top 5 guitarists of all time...
@bdff40074 жыл бұрын
Did not nail it at all. Alot of razzle and dazzle and styling, faux soul on this performance, like the Obamas. He deserved better tribute on this song, perhaps from someone with deeper felt experience. She has an impressive gift, but seemed to be trying too hard to impress us with her gift. It's not about her gift. The musicians provided a pure contrast with her artifice. Sounds harsh, but that's my response to " she nailed it." Maybe just an off night, seeing she's much better in her own niche where she is all heart and soul and authenticity. That's probably why they chose her... The mention of Etta James suggests other directions they could have gone in searching for the right person for the performance, and of course Etta James is long gone. Alot of these Kennedy Center presentations turn out disappointing, like a blue ribbon committee of self important celebrities get together and come up with a well known celebrity singer song writer to cater to other celebrities in the crowd and to draw an audience for PBS type stuffed shirts.
@larrypower86594 жыл бұрын
Be Ff I totally agree with you. I know she has her fans but I am not one of them. And yes - Where is Etta James’ name? On the other hand, Jeff is as good a guitar player as Jimi Hendrix was. He’s the only electric guitar player in Jimi’s league. They had different approaches but each is a master of sound, creativity, and virtuosity on their instrument. There is no one who gets what they do from a Fender Stratocaster. No one else.

The way she puts her entire heart ❤️ and soul into her performances puts her right up there with a lot of the other relatively ‘unknown’ great ones, and far above the many others who are considered to be ‘good’ today by the masses! The one video that gets to me the most is the duet she does with Joe B. of I’ll Take Care of You’ at the Beacon - it just oozes sensuality with her voice and Joe’s guitar 🎸 playing!
