DJI drones are truly built like tanks. I previously owned a Spark which fell from 387 feet and slammed into the ground. I just blew the dirt off and started flying again. My air 2s has never failed either. You' ve shared some amazing shots from your avata which has inspired me to try fpv drones as well. Thank you! 😊

@DronePsycheАй бұрын
They are not built like tanks. You have no idea what you're talking about. They have a glass jaw next to carbon frames with aluminum camera mount cages 🙄
This is why I am learning Full Manual on Neo (when it arrives) - it's mass is so small. at 135 Grams, It cannot kamikaze itself. One channel crashed it 300 times and its still 100%. Another TRIED to break it. And couldn't. It's no Avata 2, but that's the point. Its a learning device.
@flyingfilmmakerАй бұрын
Yep, it's a great one to learn FPV on. Can't wait to get mine to play with haha.
@kozАй бұрын
I was about to say exactly this. I've only had my Avata 2 for a few weeks, and have yet to master full Manual. So I think I'm going to get a Neo to practice Manual with, especially since I can use all the Avata kit I have with Goggles to control it.. And they can really take a beating!
@monkasphaltАй бұрын
neo is really a smart product dev by dji. They probably seen the low conversion rate and low customer acquisition thus they studied on how to remove the niche lining of drones to customers. Neo is designed to be brought everywhere due to its size, usability amd ease of use
@sandys-channelАй бұрын
get a bind and fly tinywhoop (75mm or larger) like a Meteor 75 Pro or something to learn on. You will learn MUCH faster than on the Neo and the goggles / radio / batteries / etc can all be used on more quads. The Neo is not going to be a good learning platform

@@sandys-channel That is sound advice for someone super interested in flying FPV. I'm 66 years old, already own an Avata 2, and every consumer Drone DJI makes, plus a few Autel models. Having multiple controllers, Goggles 3, FPV Controller 3, RC2, RC-N2 Motion controller2, 3. I'm never going to go wilder than the OG DJI FPV, so yeah... Hybrid GPS/FPV stuff. No 5 inch Freestyle for me, stepping outside that ecosystem doesn't have much draw. For someone serious about FPV, without gear, your advice is solid.

It's pretty normal to entirely destroy your first fpv drone. The trade off with using DJI equipment is your tied to using DJI care to fix things. When you also build your own and learn to repair, you can fix and replace everything yourself all for less than what DJI care costs.
@flyingfilmmakerАй бұрын
True. But I don’t really want to spend hours fixing drones haha

Another KZbinr intentionally kept crashing his new Neo, like 20 times at max speed into a tree and rocks. Yes, I know it's a slow drone, so 40kph into a rock is not that fast. But it still flies even after all those crashes. Apparently, it even stays level with the motors cut in mid-air still falls like a rock, but level

I'm a retired professional pilot. The key to success is not taking chances and only betting on sure things. Sounds like luck was on your side many times.
@flyingfilmmakerАй бұрын
Thankfully with drones you can routinely crash and at worst you loose the drone, but the pilot always survives. With FPV crashing is part of the game.
@DronePsycheАй бұрын
If you're looking to become an FPV pilot you will have to eventually move to an actual carbon drone and learn how to repair and build. If not you are wasting your time and money. Repairing your own is quicker and cheaper.

100% this. I was a tiny whoop pilot for many years before I decided to pull the trigger on something bigger. I got an Avata 2 and was always afraid to actually fly it hard because I knew that if I crashed it in anything that nice soft grass it was probably toast. Ultimately, got sold the Avata 2 for what I paid for it and got a Cinebot30 instead. It was the best choice I could have made. Not only was everything cheaper, everything worked across my whole fleet of quads. The O3 on the Cinebot30 had as good footage (at least for my eyes and purposes of flying for fun) and flew WAYY better than the Avata 2. Also, I crashed the shit out of it and not just "soft landing" in grass, Full speed into concrete walls kind of crashes. Worst I had was a cracked prop guard (which cost nothing to replace and was done by me in under 10 minutes). Then I joined a local racing group, built up a racing 3.5" sub 50 with a Caddx Vista and all of my gear just worked on it. I got bored of the Cinebot30 after flying the open prop racing quad, so I ordered a Volador VX3 VX3.5 O3 Freestyle Frame Kit and it was a literal drop in replacement with the Cinebot30. From cinewhoop to open prop freestyle quad in like 30 minutes of work. All of this to say, the Avata 2 is a great quad. If you love it, don't let anyone dampen that enthusiasm. The hold in place and control over the gimbal while flying is not something that is replicated easily on a DIY quad. But ultimately for me, the cons and inflexibility of the Avata 2 were massively outweighed by the DIY FPV world and the flexibility that it offers to pilots.
@flyingfilmmakerАй бұрын
I mean it depends what your exact definition of an FPV pilot is. I’ve gotten decently good at flying them, but I just don’t have the time right now to mess with building and repairing them and managing lipos etc so I works better to just fly a DJI.
