You are my internet hero ! I have to open my printer because I spilled resin over my motor 😢

This video was a great insight to this printer. Sometimes accidents can have far reaching benefits. I am new to resin, but I will pay attention to what happened here because I am notorious for going the cheap way and using alternatives. In this case, I will not be doing that, lesson learned. Thank you Johannes.

I had the EXACT same screen problem on my Halot One Pro, probably from killing the screen with alcohol after trying to clean up a resin spill. Your workaround with the mouse is GENIUS. I can't believe that worked. I also had to take out my touch screen (really not hard to do at all) and unplug the touch screen input ribbon to keep it from phantom pressing on things.

Great video Johannes! It sucks that your printer had a leak but happy for you that yo managed to make it work again. Good luck with future prints and looking forward to see your mystical project you seem so proud of!

I literally had a major resin spill yesterday and the touchscreen is buggered. Thank goodness I found your video and learned I could use a mouse in the interim while waiting for a new touchscreen! Thanks for sharing your experience and solutions!

Yeah, I definitely had my fair share of printer problems the last couple of weeks 😅 Oh well, I learned a lot from it in the end so it's not all bad. Happy I can continue the actual project I'm working on now :)

To anyone watching this: never use a drill to tighten your FEP.
@fatboyshadetree51396 ай бұрын
Removing is fine tho. It has to do with amount of torque applied. It has to be even across the entire fep.
@dredgewalker Жыл бұрын
Lesson here is sometimes the more you try to save money the more it costs you. If there was a better or cheaper alternative to fep the companies would have sold it. But thank you for your sacrifice in testing out things that some of us already thought of using.

Sorry to see the problems with your printer. I bought a Creality SLA printer about 8 months ago but haven't used it yet (it kind of scares me!!). I also researched the printer before buying (what problems they could have) and got extra film and a cleaner/lube for the resin tank. PTFE lube is used to polish the tank film so the cured resin doesn't stick that well (releases easier). Good luck in the future with this printer. One day I'll try my SLA printer!! LOL!

Oh damn, my video probably didn't help much to make you feel more confident.. On the other hand, you know not do be as stupid as I was 😅 It's actually super nice using this printer apart from the drama I caused myself. The print quality is just so so great!

I hope i never need to do this, but in case i do, thanks for the video! The point about sealing the screen against leaks - hopeful Creality see your video and make that change. They'd save on warranty repairs when they leak through the proper FEP.

Had the same issue with the touchscreen after a resin leak. I mean, they should at least have some kind of seal around the touchscreen! Thanks for letting me know I can use a mouse with this printer. It will save me the hassle of trying to make it work as-is!
@DarrenCurrie.2 жыл бұрын
Sorry to see that happen to you! Same happened to me a couple days ago and there's not a lot on youtube showing resin leaks into the printer and I experienced the exact same thing as you. Only in my case I have the Halot One Pro and when I put everything back together, it didn't print anything. Turns out the resin released the ribbon from the lcd screen enough so that several pins weren't making contact with the PCB on the LCD glass. I thought the ribbon was at least soldered on but it appeared to be just glued. Ugh. Can't even find where to buy a replacement right now (Nov. 2022). And not too happy with the part # on the screen: FPC-070-L001-3 7.04 2K. I thought the Halot One Pro was supposed to be a 3K screen!

Thanks for documenting this. So basically, any FEP failure will be a disaster... and we should therefore replace FEPs on time. Good to know, but surprising and disappointing Creality has done seemingly nothing to protect any part of the Halot One from a resin spill event.
@fatboyshadetree51396 ай бұрын
I spilled some resin on mine but nowhere near what you did. Mine was about a shot glass amount. I wiped up all that i could but some leaked down by the stepper motor. I used it after that and it worked fine. But put the printer away and havent used it since. I wanna get back into printing so i might have to take it apart if it doesnt work right. Thank you for the detailed video in case i need to fully disassemble mine.

Thank you so much. I just had the dumbest moment. 1/4 full vat spilled in my printer, and into the screen. This assembly will come in handy.

@rsz9018210 ай бұрын
If I were the manufacturer of this type of printer I would add a few plastic drains so that resin can be directed via a gutter around the glass and exit the bottom into a tray or base that has some kind of a low profile tub. This way you would only need to just flush the drain with IPA.

Mix 1:1 distilled water and IPA for cleaning the screen glass. No more haze or streaks. Alternatively you can use ethanol it flashes off better and has no "oily like" feel.

incredible, I cannot make my Halot one print single print, it sticks to the FEP and breaks the print in 2 parts .... one gets stick to Plate and rest with FEP, i have tried stronger supports everything ... i just cannot
@Solipsfilm Жыл бұрын
I had a similar problem, it might have something to do with the tuning of your FEP film, it it better to be a bit too loose than too tight on the vat. There's tutorials that show you how to tune your FEP to get the right sound pitch.
@Solipsfilm Жыл бұрын
Oh, and there's also FEP lubricant that makes it stick less, might also be worth trying if the first thing fails 😉

found this video afteri accidently poured resin all over printer luckily it only went into the stepper motor i need to replace it but i have to say this video has to a how not to use a halot one lol i know people say dont use metal scraper on fep but why would they give you one if they didnt want you to use it also dont add silicon around screen it will be harder to remove if this happens again

Another reason not to waste your money on any resin printer made by creality. This also happened on my Halot one pro. The vat is built so shabbily it stresses the fep on the corners. After a few cycles they tear and out comes the resin onto your screen. And the threads strip out so easilly. I have an Elegoo mars that performs much better than my halot and is 10x more reliable. Creality should just stick to making FDM printers. These halot printers are just utter garbage.

You really should be wearing gloves whenever you touch the printer, even more so when the thing is covered in uncured resin.
@Solipsfilm2 жыл бұрын
You're definitely right.. I did wear them in the beginning but after two hours of wearing them and having one tear apart I kinda gave up 😅 I luckily didn't experience any irritation on my skin and washed my hands thoroughly afterwards. But yes, definitely the smarter thing to keep wearing them when handeling this chemical soup.
